What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Found the missing screwdriver with the bit that perfectly fits my Kibler lock jaw screw. in the meantime, I find I am missing a small pan primer. However, since I have a larger pan primer and like it more, I will not dwell on this. The Doc is out now.

    Kibler Fowler

Now that I have found the Kibler guns, and the locks that come with them, and having found that Paul Valandigham article, I can't imagine using others' makes of locks. (Save for my Pedersoli Jaeger flinter). Yes, Rocklocks are an acquired taste, but it is a great taste. Speaking of which, it's...

I found the missing pliers a little bit ago, and my BP cleaning patches are now all in one spot, but that screwdriver is still AWOL. Other than that for BP stuff, I read the forums for what is new. The Doc is 1/2 relieved now. 🫡

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Did something of which the meaning of is obscure to me. Organizing. I am still looking for my missing small precision pliers and the screwdriver handle and a bit from a Wheeler set. I did move several bags and boxes of cast balls from the floor and put them in a storage dresser. I also arranged...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Finally cut off the overhanging tabs of the wide base of my Woodsrunner front sight which I had been using to center the sight by bending those over to hold it in place. Slightly peened/hammered the barrel where the sight cut is, which I managed to make too wide when making the gun. Now the...

    Arkansas Jim

For elongating the barrel lug holes you will need to get yourself a jeweler's saw and some replacement blades. They will break. For the sight, put it upside down in a vice and use a center punch to put some divots into the base. This should solve that problem. The Doc is out now.

Anyone else chomping at the bit for the Kibler smoothbore?

I was hoping for the Fowler, but at the moment, I am torn. When Jim said that this was for shot only, it stopped my enthusiasm. I was hoping for a gun I could use for both shot AND ball as a smoothie. Then I also saw that what Jim was contemplating was akin to a Trade gun. I'm not one for the...

I didn't do a thing, but I passively picked up the targets for the NMLRA Postal Shoot from the post office today. Now, if only I can actually not wait until the very last minute to shoot these! :p The Doc is a terrible procrastinator, and out now.

That lock is from a group of imported guns from Stoeger from the 1950's to 60's. If I recall correctly, they were Belgian in origin. You can google images of the guns. The Doc is out now.

    Kibler side effect?

I have built two Kibler guns. On the first, a Southern Mountain, I put a minimum of carving decoration on the cheek-piece. On the second, a Woodsrunner, I carved a maple leaf, a snake on the patchbox, a lily, two lines along the stock, and two scroll-y things on the cheek-piece side. I would not...

    Kibler’s new Gun.?.

It will be out about the time it comes out. In the meantime, it's best to just sit back and wait. Jim and Katherine announced last week that they both came down hard with the flu and that has set the shop back a smidge. I know how I feel when I am sick, so I imagine that they are not feeling the...
