    I think I will.

T/C fans.. Rengade, Hawken, New Englander

My favorite TCs are not solely TC. My idea of what makes one better is below. I use a GM 32”, RB barrel on each and a Davis trigger although the photo was taken before I installed it on the cap gun. Both are 50 cal. And both have buck horn sights installed. Also I added toe plates to each. I...

Place to buy a TC Hawken Flintlock Lock?

I am not going to try and talk you out of buying a L&R lock but I will tell you the whole story. I have replaced three locks now with the L&R. First all three had to go back to L&R for minor tweaking. Once L&R got a second chance to work on them they are fine. On two of the L&R locks the main V...

    Patents

As a further example I can take a public domain piece of music such as Mozart’s Requiem and make an arrangement of it. Any one can use the Mozart Requiem but no body can copy my arrangement. It becomes my “edition” and is protected. I imagine the same rules apply to a gun such as the TC Hawken...

    Patents

Having been through a few "copyright" issues with my music and photographs, I can add this if copyright and patent are considered the same. Someone mentioned moving a screw 1/8" inch or making the nose piece shorter and you are free. But that is 100% incorrect. The issue comes down to intent...

    Lyman Trade Rifle

It is nearly the same gun. Personal opinion, go with the GPR if you are able.

    "Do" try this at home............

You did notice it was a 100mm lens on a crop camera? 100mm = 160mm, plus Photo Shop (to enlarge) so there is very little chance of damage. Anyone that owns the most basic kit lens and camera equipment can do this. PS I have no plastic lens!

    Meaning of "hc/pc"?

My take on HC/PC stuff and people is a good way to start an argument. The terms are arbitrary at best. I had a neighbor across the street that did the Civil War thing and a friend that did the Old MaHaffie Stage Coach Stop. The only others I have had contact with are the ones on this forum. So...

    "Do" try this at home............

I am sure you would want to tend more to a sharp flint than a dull one. But that said, they will work under pretty poor conditions.

    T/C Hawken Rifle discontinued?

What is pretty obvious is your inability to admit the side lock market is shrinking. Follow the money is right. There is not enough money coming from a shrinking market. That is all this “defeated” person is going to say as it seems to me you are the one that has lost his grasp on the facts.

    compromise twist

And he was a wise man. Keeping with that same sentiment, everyone should try "what works" or at least shoot the barrel before you condemn it. You can not say, with any authority, "that barrel will not (or will) shoot RB" with out trying it first. Granted if I had to spec out a...

    T/C Hawken Rifle discontinued?

That must have been some Board of Directors meeting. Maybe something like this? Gentlemen, I have bad news to report. Our line of Hawken rifles has been so successful we have to stop production. There just isn't a sole out there that will buy one now as they all have one already. So, if anyone...

    grinding flints

I think you have a good go there. But I would refrain from grinding a sharp edge on the flints. That would ignore the natural fractures in the flint. The reason a flint can be knapped in the first place. If you don't follow these fractures, it may not last nearly as long as it could have. But...

    grinding flints

Yes,...yes, I admit it! I am a closet flint grinder. There I have said it. Oh, oh, the pain, oh the misery and disgrace but at least it is off my chest and I can live out what is left of my shattered life.

How good are the Lyman perc GPR .54 rifles?

There are always exceptions! But in general...............

    A good lock will...........

They say a good lock will work upside down. Well even a “poor” lock will, too! Now, do you really think it matters a great deal where you put the prime? Really? :hmm: Canon XTi 100mm Macro lens f2.8, ISO 200, AV f8, TV 2 sec, meter mdoe partial.

    "Do" try this at home............

Mr. Pletcher suggests everybody try to take a picture of your lock as it is working. I agree. It will tell you a lot. If you are observant, you may learn some facts that you may have thought wrong. This is the L&R replacement lock for a GPR and/or a TC (very similar). A lot of you, maybe...

How good are the Lyman perc GPR .54 rifles?

Really need to know what the comparison is with. But................. 1. TC Hawken 2. Lyman GPR 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Traditions 10. CVA If that is what you are thinking.
