Looking for a compact long range small caliber blackpowder pistol for critters

I knocked a big ugly spider off my jacket after walking into a web while squirrel hunting one evening. It landed in the leaves and I followed his egress with a load of squirrel shot. VAPE-OH-RIZED that nasty thing right there. Your wife ain't the only one who hates spiders.

    Ordered a '51 from Dixie...

I ordered a full sized Pietta 1851 in .36 caliber this weekend. Talked to Dixie today and it'll be two weeks till the order is processed. I have the sheriffs model in brass frame and same caliber. I hope this gun is as nice as the guns I've received recently as Pietta has given a pretty good...

Looking for a compact long range small caliber blackpowder pistol for critters

Just to add, long range in a colt repro, to me, is 25 yards. And to get good accuracy will require tuning the gun, proving the load, and doing ones part to make it all come together. Oh, I'm being optimistic about 25 yards as well.

Looking for a compact long range small caliber blackpowder pistol for critters

Pietta makes a sheriff's model in the 1851 and 1860 colt repros. They come in .36 and .44 caliber. The 1862 is smaller in .36 caliber. Other than what I've mentioned, you are limited in choices.

This person contacted me and I missed his message. I was attempting to oblige him by contacting him back. I don't understand where you are coming from with your remark about patience and feel that it was a bit snarky. So. To conclude, Again I was replying to an inquiry/offer, thank you.

Am I ready to shoot my Kentucky pistol when I get it put together?

I have the pistol in completed form. It should be .50 caliber, 1and 20 twist. So...patched roundball might be preferred. I haven't shot mine yet but am looking for some load data from other users on this pistol. Should be a lot of fun to shoot. I haven't heard of sabots being shot in these...

    1851 and 1860 sheriff's...

I believe so. Like I said, these revolvers are made very well compared to what I've seen in the past from Pietta. They came from Midway and just about all items that I've ordered from them have been excellent.

    1851 and 1860 sheriff's...

Recently bought these two Pietta from Midway. I will say that Pietta is doing some nice work on their guns. These two pistols show a very nice degree of fit and finish, lock up and index is excellent. I'm going to do the usual to make them reliable but feel like they may just be good to go as...
