Thanks I have a couple I bought at online auctions but I don't have one I consider "mine" if that makes sense.

    barrels

would it work to order a traditions kit and a barrel with the round bottom rifling? I know they come from different companies but do they fit together when building the kit? Still thinking about what to order.

Is 15 grains of 3f goex enough powder

if that is the case, why are several people killed each New Years eve by bullets coming back down people have to be really stupid to shoot anything into the air if anyone lives within a mile of them

    CVA Kentucky Pistol kit

I doubt if the problem was my stupidity as some might suggest. The hammer mismatch was 1/4 to the right and 1/2 inch short from the nipple. It's hard to move inleting and not leave a hole but I'm sure there is a way if people say it can be done. As a follow up... the pistol will hit oak leaves...

    CVA Kentucky Pistol kit

I working on a Kentucky 45 C&B I bought in kit form from Dixie way back in 1979. I just returned from the welder that had to bend the hammer so it would contact the nipple correctly and not hit on the edge. The inletting of the wood was horrible and I think none of the parts fit without being...

    Louis and Clark

I worked with a guy that had a brother in western Colorado and he considered it great sport to bear hunt with his .338 and a 44mag side arm. He emptied both at a bear at close range and the only thing that saved him was the bear turning and going down hill. They found the bear almost a mile away...

    adjustment screw

I'm using the screw the manual said to use but it's like they put in a really longer screw than needed. I'll let you know how it shoots. I got it mostly so I could shoot with local clubs if I can find one that will answer the darn phone :cursing:

    adjustment screw

well my Blueridge 54 arrived yesterday!! The trigger setting is so light that even putting your hand next to it and placing your finger on the trigger set it off. I've tried to back out the adjustment screw per instructions and it's a tiny bit better but not good yet. The screw is so far down it...

    torn

I'm torn between the Lyman Great Plains hunter in 54 and the blue ridge in 54. both have features that I like but one don't have everything I want. For the money.. Is the clean out on the Lyman worth it? This would be my first ML. AR

    Rust in bore

A lot of people regard WD-40 as oil and something to use for long term protection of metal. It's not. It's a light solvent and needs to be rinsed off and a good oil applied. In another life time when we did turbine overhauls we used WD-40 to spray turbins flanges and other parts that we had...

    barrel break in...

thanks a bunch!!! I'll be on the phone this afternoon. Different question... I was looking at Midsouth for their kit on a Lyman Plains rifle. It's a lot cheaper than others I've looked at. And I sort of like the idea of building my own. Anyway the discription said it was drilled and tapped for...

    barrel break in...

Thanks guys!!! The rifle I'm getting is from Cabelas and I'm doing it in part with a gift card. I'm totally on my own with it. I've always been interested in black powder up to the point of making my own in high school and shooting it in a cannon a friend of mine made is shop class. That was a...
