    Making paper cartridges

Made some paper cartridges from news print and Elmers glue. Just wanted to give it a try and they worked fine. Curious though, is there a method or need to incorporate a lubed patch or will the paper itself suffice as wading? Is there less accuracy using paper vs. a lubed patch? This is for...

    Using Musket Caps

Ok, I see now. Thanks to Justin.44 who sent me a PM with a picture of side by side comparison.

    Using Musket Caps

OK. I see that now. Always wondered how back in the day they could manage those caps so easily. Thanks!!

    Using Musket Caps

Has anyone used Four Wing Musket Caps on a modern cap n ball revolver or Traditions percussion rifle? I know I have used #11 caps on my revolver by giving them a pinch and they fit fine. Considering the supply issue with #10-11 caps if this would be an option??

    Using Musket Caps

I've used #11 percussion caps on my cap n ball revolver, just give them a pinch before putting them on the nipple and they fit and work fine. Anyone try the same with 4 wing 'musket caps'? Will they fit and work on a cap n ball revolver or modern Traditions percussion rifle? Asking if anyone has...

    Rifle will not fire?

From the photo, looks like you may be able to get a small open end wrench around the nipple from the side? It may be SAE size or metric. Also, as others suggested, try removing the clean out screw. Either way, push a pick, paper clip, pipe cleaner etc. through in to the chamber then work in some...

    Percussion Caps.

Anyone using these successfully for a modern in-line? I have a Knight I haven't shot in a while, also a Cabella's kit built .50 cal percussion rifle but can't find #11 caps. Can the 'musket caps' for squeezed to work on these??

    Percussion Caps.

I have seen some 'musket caps' for sale, describe as 'four wing musket caps'. Can these be used on an in-line or traditional style percussion rifled muzzle loader???

    Percussion Caps.

'Think about it @rotag84, there's a reason why the Tap-O-Cap percussion cap making device is no longer available in the retail market. The resulting caps were not very reliable. Perhaps with a lot of the rimfire priming powder instead of the roll caps, there might be a chance. I'll rely on CCI...

    Percussion Caps.

Thanks for the info. I did stumble upon info regarding making your own caps. Buying a jig, use aluminum can for material and rimfire priming powder. I like to try DIY and see how it comes out.

    Percussion Caps.

Ok, it has been several years since I bought percussion caps. I have a rifle and a revolver. Back then I could go to the local big box and buy a tin of each, looks like that isn't the case now. Online isn't much better. So, couple of questions; Can I use #10 and #11 caps interchangeably? In the...

    Priming Powder

OK. Thanks for all the great info. Sounds like the 3f, as is, will work fine. I'll give it a try this weekend.

    Priming Powder

Newb here. I only have 3f for my flintlock and know that it can be used for priming powder. Wondering if I can take small amounts and crush to finer grain in a ceramic mortar and pestal to create a finer priming powder. Is there an 'ignition hazard' in crushing small amounts of 3f? Anyone tried...
