    Barrel/forend brace for builder's bench/vise

Jim Evans, thanks for all the research you did but you must have misunderstood my question...i have a bench and vise. What i'm looking for is how folks have improvised a barrel/forend brace.

    Barrel/forend brace for builder's bench/vise

I'll be building a Kibler kit when it arrives and have set up my building area with vise, etc. What I'd like some feedback with is the brace that apparently some people use to stabilize the front when say the lock area is in the vice. This is they type coming up from the floor to the height of...

    .32 cal Kibler SMR?

    Is that a cherry stock?

    .32 cal Kibler SMR?

Thanks for all the great posts...So I went with the .45 in the end, ash wood... I’ll work up a reduced load for squirrels as others have posted in other threads. Should be a nice light and versatile rifle...now the wait begins...

    .32 cal Kibler SMR?

I'm interested in some feedback on the .32 Kibler SMR...I'm looking to build one in either .32 or .45 but am waffling back and forth. Do you have trouble keeping that 46" barrel loadable or does it cake up real bad in the small caliber? (I follow Dutch's (Dr5x) teaching's so I wipe between...

Cleaning Traditions Crockett .32...repeatedly stuck jag

They stick with a clean barrel too, even when putting down some Barricade on a patch. Moose Milk is Dutch’s recipe (Dr5X)...which works just fine for me.

Cleaning Traditions Crockett .32...repeatedly stuck jag

Swabbing after every shot with Moose Milk.

Cleaning Traditions Crockett .32...repeatedly stuck jag

Nope, not a patch issue. I’ll try the .22 bore brush with cleaning patch and slotted jag solutions suggested...much appreciate that feedback.

Cleaning Traditions Crockett .32...repeatedly stuck jag

Not a fouling ring...just been struggling with it since I built it from a kit...I read somewhere in my searches that there was a batch of them made that caused these hang ups but I didn’t see a real workaround/remedy. Something about a gap with the breech plug. And I’m using the tapered shaft...

Cleaning Traditions Crockett .32...repeatedly stuck jag

I appear to have one that gets the jag/cleaning patch stuck by the breech. How did you overcome this and are able to do a good job cleaning the rifle? Any experienced helpful pointers are appreciated. Thanks!

Castor oil / Denatured alcohol patch lube users question

Stumpkiller, I’d also like to understand what the Witch Hazel is for in your recipe please. Not critical, genuine interest. I’ve think most folks recommend dipping twice and letting dry in between for this patch lube, correct? Lastly, does the alcohol and Castor oil need to be mixed first...

    Non-symmetrical cast ball

I’ll check after work tonight where the wider part is in relation to the parting line. To clarify, these aren’t fat from the mould not being tightly closed...there’s no “fin” on the parting line.

    Non-symmetrical cast ball

I got a .40 cal rifle and the .390 mould I'm using for it casts non-symmetrical ball. Measured with the sprue up, on the horizontal one measurement will be .390 but when the ball is turned 90 degrees the measurement will be .396. Will this six thousands difference cause issues to find a proper...

    Forged Iron Buckles

I started making my first shooting pouch and the pattern calls for a 1" buckle. I'm sure I'll be making more pouches so I would like to get a few to make the shipping charges worth it. Anyhow, the only place I found online for the 1" and 1 1/4" buckles was called "Mountain Top Trading"...and I...

    ball weight???

I have the same mould and had much better luck with consistent ball weight when I switched my sprue cutter. I got these flush diagonal cutters and the cut sprues are much more consistent with most ball weights within a 1/2 grain.

    Pre-wash flannel for cleaning patches?

Went and got some Super Flannel at WM, now have to cut and try it out. Thanks for all the feedback! Also, to pass along what I've found out: WM is discontinuing the "Aqua" color of Super Flannel, which is kind of the old-timey sea-foam green, and is on closeout sale...

    Pre-wash flannel for cleaning patches?

I'd like to make some cleaning patches for my .32 cal; came across a post that recommended Wal-Mart "Super Flannel" which I'd like to try. Is flannel material supposed to be washed to remove sizing as well before being cut/torn to size? (I pre-wash my ticking for shooting patch strips). Also...

Seeking info on deer skin leather

thanks for the info, guys; I'll check into that video...always helps to see it vice reading only. Thanks for the google searches also, but I had done that before posting...there are numerous places, and perhaps my posted question was not as clear as it should have been...I was wondering if you...
