    TVM Woes! :(

I had a TVM (Matt) flint that was beautiful. I live overseas now, but thought about ordering another for my grandson and one for me when I get back. I pray this is resolved to the OP's satisfaction. Look forward to a positive outcome.

Just have to brag a little ..

That is awesome! That will go down in your son's list of great memories he will pass on to his children some day. I applaud you getting him involved. I've got a 9 year old grandson that I would give anything if he lived closer than 1,800 miles away. I can just imagine his joy at shooting a...

    New to me TVM .40

Beautiful rifle and you are going to love it. I have an Early Virginia in 54 cal with a much plainer stock. The differences in the stock, particularly at the but are significant. Yours is more narrow and for lack of better words "graceful". My Early Virginia looks like a working man's gun...

    Lock corrosion?

I had never removed the lock from my GPR until it started to not fire the cap. I removed the lock and found the lube had turned to crud and cleaned it up with proper lube and that fixed the problem. The rifle is probably around 15 years old and I didn't find any corrosion on the inside of the...

Reloading supplies of black powder shotgun

Take the time to really read the information on the "Black Powder Notebook". Particularly the section on Black Powder Shotgun Basics . I have a 12 ga. and shoot 90 grains of 3f with an equal amount of shot by volume. I'm using a shot flask with an Irish Automatic Measure built in. Powder -...

    Am I lazy?

I have a Lyman GPR in .54 and added a TVM Early Virginia flintlock in .54. What I have discovered is that the flintlock is as reliable as my GPR and really isn't that much slower to load. Prime the pan with 4f vs. putting on a cap. I have also found it to be just as accurate. To each his...

Wax for Stocks & Metal vs. Trans. Fluid

Can't argue with the way it looks, Johnson's Paste Wax, and yes the trani fluid has very unpleasent smell.

Wax for Stocks & Metal vs. Trans. Fluid

I have followed the instructions from TVM on cleaning and preserving my Early Virginia using Type F trani fluid after a wax to preserve the metal and wood. Went to the range on Saturday and it was HOT! The wax that I used or the Trani Fluid combination got hot and began to rub off. I wasn't...
