    pillow ticking question

I went to wally mart and asked for pillow ticking. I got in return the standard confused look of the normal wallymart employee. I wandered around and looked for something that resembled ticking but didn't see anything. Of the fabrics I looked at I didn't see a thickness listed and being I...

Tell me about building a stock

Are there any tutorials on building one? I've tried searching and haven't found much. Can a stock be built from scratch or is it best to have a duplicator of some kind? Anyone here ever build a duplicator? I know this question is kinda vague. I'm a woodshop teacher and tinkerer, so I work...

    Remanufactured barrel?

I bought a used cva hawken the other day and after getting it home I notice in smallish print, upside down and right at the stock line it says remanufactured. What would that have been? I have the right to return the gun in seven days so advice would be appreciated. At 150.00 it wasn't a...

    cva hawken value

I know this is tough to answer unseen but I saw a cva hawken .54 percussion for 160.00. Vs the cva kentucky rifle I had as a boy this one seems to have a nicer stock of cherry. Not only is the color cherry looking but the graining looks cherry like also. Could it be? It looks externally to...

    newbie problem, ball puller stuck

I shot my gun with pyrodex for the first time last week. I didn't clean it because I didn't have a cleaning jag. I noticed the bore looking kinda white so I decided to use a ball puller with a .008 rag to wipe the barrel out. Well, it's stuck about 10 inches into the barrel. Stuck good too...

    caps are tearing apart, problem?

Since I haven't shot in 30 years I don't remember this happening. I bought CCI #11 magnum primers because I remember having ignition problems in my old CVA rifle and I'm assuming standard #11's. This cabala's hawken shoots just fine, but the caps are splitting open, sometimes in more than 1...

can't find goex, options in tx?

Folks, I haven't shot a ml in 30 years. Strangely enough, all I can find in in a city the size of Houston, tx is pyrodex. Where can I get goex in texas. Anywhere from houston to waco and if there isn't anything around what type of pyrodex should I use? This is for a 50 cal prb in a cabela's...

    Build or buy????

Hello gents, my first post. I had a cva kenyucky I built from a kit when I was a boy, 30 years ago. I've always wanted another especially as a get older. Hunting with a center fire isn't much fun. The question becomes do I build or buy. Being fairly mechanical and and wood shop teacher...
