    advice for a greenhorn

    I know about rifles but I have no experience with a smoothbore. Assuming I had one in 28 ga. [.54 cal.], since the barrels are not as thick, can you load up a charge like you could in a rifle with a thcker barrel, and would you use a patched ball? please advise and educate me.
