    Dixon's Gunmaker's Fair Is Over

HUZZAH!!! Granted, won't be exactly the same as the great fair the Dixons put on, but should be great nonetheless. Just have to wait one more year, darnit. https://www.nmlra.org/news/gunmakersfairatkempton

WANTED Dragoon Cylinder, 2nd model Palmetto

Am in need of a replacement specifically for the Palmetto Armory cylinder. Uberti cylinders don't fit, and the pistol I was given as a gift uses only the size that apparently Palmetto made. Help!

Smith Carbine cartridge cases: brass vs. rubber vs plastic?

Am thinking of buying a Smith repro, Pietta of course. My question is, are the brass cases that Pietta sells worth it? I know the originals used India rubber and it's designed to expand and seal the gases in. Brass of course wouldn't do that; so is brass the way to go? Are there noticeable...

    Shops in the Michigan UP?

Am heading Up North soon, and always want to find great gun shops that either specialize in muzzleloading, or at least have a substantial amount of supplies and our kind of stuff. I'll likely be in the western UP - suggestions?

    Colt Dragoon - 1st vs. 2nd vs. 3rd models

I keep seeing and reading conflicting information about what distinguishes the difference in the models. Based on some homework, the variance is in the notching of the cylinder, and squared backside of the trigger guard. But, here's the confusion: different places tell me the 1st model does...

    Sharps .54 chamber sleeve: stuck

    Thanks for the tips, guys!

    Sharps .54 chamber sleeve: stuck

Rule#1: never let your brother borrow your Sharps. Rule#2: if he does, make sure he cleans it! The chamber sleeve is stuck, jammed up with fowling residue from his last shoot at the range, and won't budge. Won't slide back at all; suggestion on how to solve this? I tried the sleeve-removal...

    Pat Marlins pocket luber BP...?

...pan lubing? Like to hear details, if you would indulge me.

    Pat Marlins pocket luber BP...?

Well, I admit it's not exactly for the purist, as tools go, but it's awfully handy when spending a long day at the shooting bench. I wouldn't go so far as to insult it as nothing more than a useless novelty.

    Pat Marlins pocket luber BP...?

Seems this handy item is going away, Pat replied to an order I just made that he doesn't have the .54 or .50 cal lubers for sale any longer. Anyone know where these can be purchased? I was able to score a .58 he still had, but not the other sizes I want as well.

    Building a workbench

All great suggestions, thanks! Sounds like a laminate top is my route - now I can sick the wife on finding some discarded countertops... or, time to bring the truck to the dump and hunt for bargains! Thanks fellas.

    Building a workbench

Am building a workbench, and wondering about the surface. Specifically, what to coat/stain/seal/finish the worktop in that won't be a problem reacting to potential spilled BP chemicals we all use (cleaning solvents, etc.). Any problems, suggestions?

    Powder magazine

Good points all, thanks. If I store it out in the barn nearby, in an air-tight container to keep out humidity, is there a concern about keeping powder in air-tight containers? I read different things about potential for combustion from dust accumulating ala some of those factory fires/explosions...

    Powder magazine

Yeah, it's the scenario I dread: fire breaks out, the firemen don't go in because of the possibility of explosion; then I have the insurance company refusing to pay out... You can imagine the nightmare it could cause. At least that's my worry.

    Flat Cleaning Jag for .62?

I found several at Cabela's - in their bargain cave, of all places. Had the devils own time finding them myself, and when I ran across two on the rack, I snapped them up.
