    Rifle Shoppe

Didn't mean to open a can of worms. I have been dealing with TRS for a number of years. Have 3 of their guns and have ordered parts from them in the past. I know what to expect from them, sometimes it takes a month and sometimes a year +. I know about the move and their problems, but this is the...

    Rifle Shoppe

I totally understand that things are tough for them right now. If they can’t get the work done right now that’s ok. But how hard is it to answer an email or a phone call. Would just like to know they received the parts and will get it done when possible.

    Rifle Shoppe

I sent them mainsprings for tempering and hardening (after you fit their springs they will do it for free) last June and have never heard back or received them.

    Fusil de Chasse

My only suggestion would be to not use the pins included in the kit, the ones I got were way to big.

    vent liner

I've done Pecatonica, Track of the Wolf, Jim Chambers, and Rifle Shoppe and all of them needed to be drilled and tapped.

    Fusil-de-Chasse question...

Made of brass, about 1/2" long. Narrow in front and back, lower in front and back, about 1/8" wide in middle, about 3/16" high in the middle. Rounded from front to back. Will see if I can find a pic.

    Pre Rev re do.

Broke out the spokeshave, scrapers, and sandpaper and went to work. Started on the forearm and feel like I took about 2 lbs of wood off. What a difference. Also flattened the bottom of the butt and like the look a lot more. Also working on the comb. There was no definition there. Plan on trying...

    Potential Newbie Questions

A smoothbore matchlock is just as if not more accurate than a smoothbore flintlock because in some models the match is lowered into the pan rather than pulling a trigger and having the flintlock snap and hit a frizzzen. You can lower the match as slow or fast as you want. I'm surprised we have...

    Pre Rev re do.

I have a Pecotonica Pre Revolutionary Kentucky rifle that I built about 20 years ago. Back then all I would do is sand the stock down, assemble the parts and put on a finish. Would like to re do this gun. Will thin down the forearm, do a little carving around the lock, put on a better finish and...

Is a wad or patch necessary?

I was once running a smoothbore shoot at a rendezvous and a contestant was going to show us how to just drop a ball down the barrel, tap the butt of the gun on the ground to seat the ball, prime and shoot. Problem was the targets were sightly downhill. As he was aiming the ball rolled out of the...
