    .50 CVA pistol

Yes, a couple of my locks have the same issue and I have had to take them apart and work on the friction spots. Even afterwards lubing them seems to help their reliability. Don

    Newbie from New Hampshire

I'm in Belmont. Welcome to the forum. Us NH fellas need to get together and do some shooting. I used to run a winter woods walk at the Pemi Fish and Game club but haven't done it in years. Would like to find a land owner willing to let a few guys shoot on their property. Some friendly...

    .50 CVA pistol

Those locks need to be lubricated well before use. My experience with them is that they have trouble busting caps after a few shots. Fowling must get into the lock works and slow things down. Now I spray Ballistol on the lock works prior to shooting and have zero issues. Don

March Shoot: Winter Thaw Woods Walk Muzzleloaders

Denny, I recently found your videos on youtube and I have to say I enjoy them very much. Nothing fancy just a bunch of fellas enjoying a day of shooting, good camaraderie and down home music in the back ground. Wish there was a group like this near my home. Don

    Nick Post on you tube

I am impressed with this young man. Not many kids his age care about history or anything else that isn't electronic. His folks ought to be proud. Don

    Dalton Gang Biathlon

I did the biathlon but I'm cursed. My rifle lock malfunctioned and I had to disqualify my self. This happened to me the last time I did the shoot several years ago. Got my lock fixed and hoping I can do one of their woods walks this spring and summer. Don

Suggestions for a good 1st pistol

Single shot ML pistols are fun and easy to clean. Lyman and Pedersoli make nice period correct pistols. Don

    CVA set trigger

Yeah, I figured that out and turned that screw in as far as it would go. Don

    CVA set trigger

I tried to file some material off the rear trigger leaf and put some emery cloth too it as well but its tough stuff and I made little to no progress. Instead I improved the shim and lifted the trigger assembly up in the mortise a bit more. then I put the tang/trigger screw back in and tightened...

    CVA set trigger

Well I tinkered some and think I got it figured out. I shimmed the rear of the trigger mechanism and reinstalled it with the lock but seemed to have the same problem. After some more tinkering I backed out the screw a bit that holds the trigger mechanism into the stock. This is the same screw...

    CVA set trigger

OK here's a puzzler. A few years back I put together a CVA Hawken from parts. 99% of the parts were Hawken parts except the sights and the trigger mechanism. That came off and old CVA Frontier rifle. When I put it all together the hammer wouldn't go into half or full cock unless I pulled the set...

    .44 Starr Single Action Revolver

Dixie Gun works had them listed between $500 and $550 if I recall properly. Don

    .44 Starr Single Action Revolver

The double action was the one that had all sorts of issues. The single action runs much better. I've wanted a single action Starr for some time now. If Pietta makes them again I hope they aren't outrageously priced. Don

    Gun Carving

Its fun to personalize your own guns. I didn't carve any of mine but I did use a wood burning pen to decorate a couple of my muzzleloaders. First attempt was OK but the second one came out better. Don

    RPI replacement locks

The folks at R&L emailed me and told me to send them the lock and they would rebuild it for me. Anybody know what their turn around time is on things like this? Don
