Patent Breech Investarms Hawken failures to fire

Another tip. When you clean that barrel. Put it in some water with the nipple off and pump flush that breech fast and furious with very warm tap or sun heated water. Bob

Patent Breech Investarms Hawken failures to fire

Load your rifle with the T7 and take out the nipple and see if there is any powder under the nipple ready to be ignited. If not, work on smacking the side of the rifle with your hand after loading the T7. Those granules don't flow up through that communication hole very well sometimes. Bob

WANTED WTB Better Sights for my TC Renegade Flinter

I use the Thompson Center Contender rear sight blade on my Renegade. It is taller and gives me a more comfortable cheek weld. I use a taller machined blade from the Log Cabin Shop to match the taller rear. LB

T/C Hawken Stock - No Cheekpiece?

If you load 80 grains or so of black powder over a 370 gr. Maxi-ball and shoot it from a bench. That is where the cheek slapping was evident in mine back in the 70's and early 80's. It was like Mike Tyson hit you in the cheek bone (almost). Off hand with a round ball and cheek slapping was no...

Dixie doesn't have any. I have two (2) Dixie Gun Works Tennessee Mountain Rifles. Why do I have 2? Glad you asked. I don't know why. The 2nd one I gathered up parts conveniently over a period of time and the trigger guard is all I need now. Future sales for funding other projects. I could...

    WANTED Pedersoli flintlock

A quick call to Dixie will let you know if it will fit. They are good at answering questions. Sad part about the price is that 4 years ago that lock cost IIRC $125............Inflation I guess.

    WITHDRAWN DP .50 Flintlock

The Frontier rifle has a 39 inch barrel and a long French type lock with a pointed end and a scalloped forend with screws holding the barrel in through the thimbles. This rifle looks like a Pedersoli Kentucky sold by Cabelas. The Cabelas model differs in that it doesn't have a patchbox and it...

    Plain Jane Woodsrunner bummer

When I sight in a new set of sights on a muzzleloader, I have found over the years that Sam Fadala's recommendation of zeroing it in at 13 yards to be very useful. I shoot at small black dot or square from a magic marker and hold dead on, then adjust until all holes are in the tiny target. If...

    Woodsrunner sights

Sometimes a lot of that mirage might or might not be coming from the inside of the barrel out of the muzzle. I've heard of people using tape over the end to alleviate the heat shimmer from coming out of the muzzle if the firing is fast between the shots. Tape blows off on the next shot. Not sure...

    Beware GunBroker Sales

I stopped selling on Gunbroker after the Georgia Secretary of State's office charged my credit card $350 for a "Corporate Fee" or something like that. Someone at Gunbroker had to be in on it for the Georgia Secretary of State's office to have my CC information. The number on my CC statement was...

    T/C Maxi Balls and Elk

The maxi ball molds are calibrated for pure lead. Been there done that. Any tin/antimony will increase the diameter of the bullet enough to where the 2 lower bands which are supposed to slip into the barrel wont even start without a hammer. Then they won't obturate worth a doodly squat upon...

Help with new to me 45 flintlock

A slotted liner will be probably be threaded 5/16 x 24. Your White Lightning liner you took out will be threaded 5/16 x 32, but might be 1/4 x 32. If it is you can drill and tap for a 5/16 x 24 and use a screw in liner. Get you another WL liner and take a flashlight and a pick/needle and reach...

    WKU. 6day Kibler build.

I buggered my patch box lid up on my woodsrunner trying to get it to fit. It wouldn't slide in but about halfway. After I got it to fit I messed up making the notch to assist opening on top (decided it was too big). All my fault though. I have a new one on order LOL. Bob

    TC New Englander puzzle

I've shot TC sidelocks for many years using black powder. If you follow this advice you will not have misfires. Use 3f if you can (not set in stone). Fire the weapon and reload. If you feel the need to swab then swab after loading. This way dry powder makes it all the way through the...
