Gonna hunt my other night hog spot for this one this weekend

When I was night hunting hogs at the feeder with my flinter, I used a green headlamp on lowest setting to see the sights. A touch of white (pearl?) nail polish on front sight helped considerably. The .58 or .72 would be the better option on big 'uns

    Range/Practice vs. Hunting Loads

I use 50 grains Goes 3f in my .54 and .62 for offhand practice (and they both smack a steel plate with authority using these loads). My hunting loads are 80 grains 3f in the .54, and 100 gr 3f on the .62.

We had a double ladder stand set up about 30 yards from the feeder and had a green feeder light. I used white nail polish on...

    Ballistol

I use both: straight liquid mixed with water for cleaning the bore; aersol for quick bore clean when finished shooting at the range, for cleaning exterior barrel, lock, and all metal, and for final bore coating prior to storage. Sometimes I use the straight Ballistol for bore protection but...

    Spanish Moss for wadding

My dad used green Spanish moss in his ML shotguns for dove and turkey. He used to say "it won't set the woods on fire."

    My new early southern rifle

That's a real beauty! I really like to see good quality unused older barrels put to use, too. Didn't realize that Bill Large made a .47 barrel seems like it would be a real fun caliber (but what caliber isn't? ). Enjoy :hatsoff:
