    Lubed paper cartridge

Does anyone lube there paper cartridges? Most instructions show no lube when making these cartridges. It should help keep the fouling down. I should add that these are round ball cartridges. Any thoughts on this?

Anyone. Ever see one of these before?

Did any notice that the trigger bow is installed backwards on this rifle? All the other military style rifles are with the sling swivel installed toward the muzzle. At least that is my experience.

    Inlay black

I have found that pine lighter when lit gives off a lot of smoke and works well for transfer material

    Witnessed Unsafe Behaviors

In all of my thirty years of reenacting , using blank rounds because if we used live ones we would not have any one to play with, I have never had a powder charge cook of with any of my rifles, Not saying that it has not happened, just not to me. I have never seen the use of blowing down the...

    Musket caps

I guess I can be the odd man in this but I use CCI " reenactor" musket caps to live fire and have not had the problem of bad caps . Those 6 wing caps that CCI had was dangerous. If the caps set off a blank charge then where is the difference in setting off a live round, it is all black powder...

    CCI Musket Caps

as a reenactor and having seen these caps , the six wing ones, split of a section or two and fly into the fellow next to you in line is the reason that I did not use them. For some one at the range or hunting there should not be a problem with them. The breaking of of a wing and it hitting...

    1861 Springfield not igniting powder

This may or may not apply here but I have a "63 springfield (reproduction) that was bad to miss fire . I removed the cone and took my Dremel with a good burr and ported and polished the inside so to smooth the fire path to the bore , never had another miss fire after that.

    Does anyone recognize this lock?

Might try a dremel tool with a bur and cut the inside of the hammer to match the cone (nipple)
