    Question

I would call it plain w/inclusion. The grain runout on the forestock could make it a risky long gun build. There seems to be some figure in the forearm at least on the one side. The wood may have been better suited for a half-stock,(?), but that's all a roll of the dice when a decent looking...

    Dawn Dishsoap

(rub's chin icon) wow, I'm not so sure about that. I don't know(?) Guy's, Dawn Dish soap is fine, good stuff, it works great. Just a little dab will do ya.

When a child wants to learn the alphabet, how do you teach the letter "A"? I always started years earlier, long before they even knew about letters by singing "Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star". Then ya just change the lyrics. I'm not vested to sing twinkle-twinkle to ya. You should stick to...

    Dawn Dishsoap

Uhm, Yeah? Will I be able to explain it all to you? No. I am not a good teacher, I recognize that. I have said on this forum a gazzilion times,, I am not a good explainer. I have no diplomacy, I ain't good at that. I know truth and fraud, does that count? And if it doesn't, then I'm sorry...

    Dawn Dishsoap

Oh, sorry,, your edited quote made it look like you understand surfactants. I was just trying to point out the questions about common "soap" and your knowledge of a surfacant and the use in household detergents. Didn't mean to be rude,, or upset you. Do you have a chem background too?

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

good idea, but you should read this long thread in it's entirety. It's been established,, Serial numbers have nothing to do with year of manufacture in a chronological manner. They DO have information that may include, model, supplier, specific assembler, location of assemblers line, the shift...

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

Thank you for sharing, and for the above links with your different "M" stamped barrel. So it's pretty simple for me to understand that Sharon made and sold their own barrels that would have a "sharon" stamp, and that sharon would install for a customer any "breech" or breech/tang fit the...

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

Your right, entry level/apprentice work like sweeping floors is still dignified work in a craftsman's shop. It's asked for validity. And the answer was he didn't work FOR Sharon, he worked WITH the shop,, as a purchaser or other agent. , so that's a kind of clarification isn't it? After all it...

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

Ok, got it; It is a bit hard to see, and the other one of the two photo's you sent demonstrates it's from a Contender barrel, but I have no reason to doubt that this is proof positive, from first had knowledge, that the Maltese mark is from Sharon. Can you give us an idea what years you...

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

Thank You, Truely. But the entire internet world has been searching for "first hand knowledge" for about 20yrs. So your sharing here now at this time is a bit of a surprise. We all have learned that several small shop's supplied T/C with barrels in the early years,, but the markings of the...

    Spanish Hawken

Yes. The Ardessa plant did make CVA for many years,,marketing and international patent issues forced minor changes in the stock and configuration. CVA changed in the later years of production to cheaper Spanish makers. CVA was an importer and only made a few hundred here stateside, the custom...

    Serial Number Dating a T/C

Very confusing post here vintovka. What did you get back? And from where? Contender barrels and ".45/.410" doesn't fit anything about this forum so I don't understand. "Back when I worked with him"(?) When was that? And during that time did you as an "employee" used a stamp to mark any barrels...

An idea, probably invented by some one else

Been-there, Done that,, I even pre-drilled the dowel and screwed it into the forearm from the top. Nobody told me to do it,, but geez that thing was getting thin!

    Ramrod question

That's why I made a post in this thread. I have a scar on the palm of my right hand today, that was left from my very first rookie year 35+ years ago from a TC Renegade wood ramrod. Nobody was there to teach me the right way or wrong. I had to learn myself and I did it the hard way! To...

SOLD Full Camp, Tentsmiths Bellback Wedge and Awning

Yes! Do you know the canvas weight? 8 or 10oz? Is it Sunforger? Or just "water proof"? My guess is shipping would need two boxes,, 35 each perhaps w/UPS (just guessing) They never fold the same as ya get'm. Do the photo's deceive? Or does the bell-back have ties also?

    Ramrod question

Sage advise from the 3 above, I'll climb on board to and warn against using a "dowel" from the hardware store. Grain run-out can cause a split will using it and a nasty wound in someones hand.
