    BEST CONTAINERS

Not at $80 to $100 a case. Then shipping and tax added... No thanks. It takes about 10 minutes to cut and resolder and I already have the supply. Buying more would be a foolish waste of money, and I don't like round cans for powder...wastes space in box. Even my glass bottles of cleaning...

    BEST CONTAINERS

No, just the one that hit me in the chest. I was lucky enough to catch it before it fell to the ground. It was a 30-06 and looked normal. I carried it in my bunker pants pocket till I retired. It was still in there when I turned my gear in. (All they let us keep is our class A's and our helmet)

    BEST CONTAINERS

As a retired firefighter (28+years experience) I've been on a few fires where powder of all sorts and ammunition was involved. Only one had black powder. In that case, The black powder was in metal cans and in plastic. The plastic just melted, the metal cans sort of did too with the bottom seals...

    BEST CONTAINERS

I took several old metal cans, cut the middles out and re-soldered them to 1/2# cans. I made sure the cans were empty, completely filled with water overnight, then dumped the water out and started cutting with a coping saw (a jewler's saw would have given a better cut) immediately. After making...

Hello from the Ohio River valley

I thank you. It's not important, but that last bid did get seriously under my skin. I take it very personally when accused of something I did not do. That's my major flaw. My BF says it's because I'm too much of a Vulcan.

How is your favorite range rod handle shaped?

I have seen a couple with the white porcelain knobs too. I prefer unfinished wood with a second rod with a brass T handle. I've always wanted to learn how to do checkering and would like to practice on the wood handles, but never seem to find the time....working on 25 years of that thought. LOL...

Hello from the Ohio River valley

Hey all. Been on here for a while and I posted when I got on. I greet from the ORV, because I live in several states and have 4 physical addresses in 3 states. All are the ORV. I'm a bit of a nomad now that I'm retired. If you know me, you know I love my flintlocks and have been involved with...

Because I want to know why that F#$%tard (appliation hunter) thinks I posted something for sale. he said I " used the site in a manner that is not in line with the goals and concepts of the purpose of the site." I posted an opinion...... we are allowed to have opinions and that should not result...

I'd say anyone who has a sucessful transaction online with an unknown to them seller is lucky. I had to learn the hard way. $22,500 wasted on two transactions failed. No protections as one was a check sent and cashed. The other was Paypal, but paypal refused to honor the reverse of the...

How many grains in a pound?

No, it will always be 7000 gr to a lb Grains is a weight measurement, not a volume measurement. See my previous post. You have to shoot a gun in to figure your load. Mark your chosen measure for that gun with whatever grain measure of the chosen powder with the weight, or just tie it onto...

I sold my swivel breech back to the builder so he could pass it down to his sons.... I would like to replace it, but having shot a friend's ferguson,,...it's on my list of wants too. The excitement is, which one will present itself to be close to my hands first.... LOL I know, I know. wish in...

I am neither happy or unhappy. I just pointed out it is a ridiculous change and unnecessary...but isn't my board. I have fought hard to prevent such on my own old school message boards (on which I do not require purchasing memberships for full access, nor do I have advertisements attached left...

Interesting comment considering we are from the same territory according to your profile avatar info seen. I have yet to purchase anything sight unseen. Even the occasional palm leaf hat or machine sewn shirts I have rarely purchased over the years have not been sight unseen and only from known...

How many grains in a pound?

YUP.. and the OP answered his own question correctly. Ideally, when you make your powder measure, it is by volume used at the range to sight in the load for the particular gun.... At home, use a non digital balance beam scale to properly determine what the grain (by weight) measurement is for...

Looking at replacing a Bess stock

Thanks I'll check. Even Atlanta cutley and museum replicas who occasionally have such didn't show them. The guys called to verify just in case a couple pieces were laying about.

Correct. I don't buy anything online unless I can see it and hold it. It amazes me how many people buy stuff sight unseen then complain about it, or worse, don't recieve whatever they bought. But, a fool and their money are soon parted.

    8 shots a minute

Our qualification test is 6 in a paper plate. But I'm fairly certain they are talking about a Ferguson like others mentioned. A friend has a Ferg. I can keep up the rate of fire using unpatched ball and powder . He would be faster but for the many screw turns to open n close the breech
