    Rough out or smooth out?

I had to laugh out loud! Too funny. My wife says "I'm a legend in my own mind" I crack up every time she tells me that. PS: I'm in Republic, MO. as well.

    DIY mold making.

This looks like the style of bullet T/C uses. Or, used. I have a few for my .50 cal T/C

    Clip on Wheel weights

Everyone has explained it so well that I am only adding what I use. I have soft lead for ML, and old style wheel weights for 'unmentionable' pistols and I have gotten some Linotype metal to alloy with the WWs for unmentionable rifles. I hope that I haven't led anyone to 'the Dark Side'?

Factory built vs kit build value

Are you telling me that my TC Hawken 50 has LOST it's warranty??? I got it in 1980. BTW, this is a LOL.

    Gun show prices

I had a local Liquor store that sold cans of 'no name' sodas at .10 cents a can. The sales tax started at .11cents, so they raised the price to .11cents plus .01 cent tax. I usually drank RC Cola, 16oz bottle for .14cents.

Found This Flask in an Antique/Junk Shop

My only 'real' flask is one that my Dad converted to a lamp back when he was a teen, (mid 20s), made from a 'Civil'? War flask. It no longer has the old cloth wiring. But it is a memory that I use nightly.

    Fraged by My Musket

I usually run a .358 SWC and .452 RN with WWs after fluxing to clean. Slightly .001" oversize. So you think that would not lead a bbl at a faster speed?

    Fraged by My Musket

I am learning so much in here. I always thought that pure lead wouldn't work as a bullet as it would 'lead' the barrel, unless it was very low velocity. WWs are great in 'unmentionables' at 800-900 fps loadings and the Linotype mixed in worked in rifles. Excuse me, "unmentionable" rifles.

I was thinking about hardness. You answered my question. I have a problem. Guns that are CF and Caplock, & one Flinter. Long as I cast RBs with flashing lead and the rest with WW & LT. Thanks.

    My first Flintlock?

    Thank you, very much.

Just a thought, is Linotype metal too hard for RB casting?

So I am doing it correctly.

I would like to ask a 'dumb' question. I was told to only use 'pure lead' balls in BP Rifles. It has at times been difficult to get lead to cast balls. There have been more than one statement about using wheel weights to cast balls or minie' balls from. Is it OK to use WWs in BP?

Yesterday was my Blind Squirrel Day

Italian and not Spanish? Hmm, I paid top dollar for it $29. Thought that was a lot of money for that time & place.

Yesterday was my Blind Squirrel Day

My 36 cal 1851 model is even older. It doesn't mention what model it is, powder, caliber, precautions, etc. I don't have a clue who made up the kit. The Spanish, Italians, Heathens, or??? I built it back in 1970-71. It sits in a drawer. Fired a few times but that's all. PS: it might be a ghost...

    Mammoth ivory inlay...

My thought, after smoothing the stock & inlay, remove the inlay, stain the stock, THEN, sand the back side of the inlay until the front is the right height. Then glue it (or however you want to attach it).

Can someone help me identify this pistol?

Whoops, just found I'm late to the party.
