    Lead melting stove

The pump seal needed a bit of oil and the filler cap washer/o ring needed replacing so it would build pressure. The pump is sweet!. It has a priming tray under the burner so I still have the ritual flame up before the blue flame.

Sound advice. I had one right behind me when I lit it for the first time.

who all uses peeps on their percussion guns.

I got it at Rusty Woods. A dealer/gunsmith store in Mission BC up here in Canada. He's one of the few places up here that has any BP stuff.

    Lead melting stove

No name anywhere. I collect campstoves like Optimus, SVEA, Primus, etc... and this is just a giant one.

    Lead melting stove

I came across a fella selling a lead melter on a buy/sell forum recently and thought I'd share a pic. He was a retired plumber and had used this for over 40 yrs to melt various metals. It's basically a giant white gas stove with a pot on top. It puts out a huge blue flame. I haven't had a chance...

How do I secure the ramrod in my T/C hawken?

I wrapped some black tape around the end that goes into the nosecap and poked it in there. Takes a good tug to get it out.

    Rifled vs Smooth?

I have a Chiappa Napolean LePage .45 percussion (rifled) pistol that is as or more accurate than any unmentionable pistol I own. It's real purty too. I plan on building a loading stand just because it makes loading easier and frees up your hands so your not fumbling around with powder, patch, etc...

I've got lots of other rifles to shoot. I'm just not ready to start ' breaking rocks in the hot sun.'

GPR as good as they used to be?

That's great news. Maybe we'll see ous in Canada soon. I could get an importer to bring one in on special order but that would be very expensive.

GPR as good as they used to be?

I've had a .50 GPR percussion on order up here in BC for 6 months now. The shop is telling me April delivery possibly. No problem getting a flintlock. 2 new ones on the rack.

    T/C Hawken breach plug

I use a .30 cal wire brush with a 2x2 patch to get into the patent breech also. I like to have more of the patch material above the top of the brush and give it a twist with my fingers before inserting it into the barrel. This way the patch material goes into the breech ahead of the top of the...

    Rust stopping oil

I don't think putting oil, etc... on a patch and running it up and down a couple of times is sufficient for rust protection. I use aerosol spray oil and spray enough down the bore until it comes out the nipple hole. Then I'll run a loose patch saturated (dripping) with oil and do a couple of...

    Black Powder Supplies In Canada

It's actually 8 kg. The problem is that you need an American export permit to take it out of US. I wouldnt want to be caught in the US in possession of an explosive without being a citizen.

    Black Powder Supplies In Canada

Corlanes Sporting Goods in Dawson Creek BC has black powder supplies. They had a couple of GPR flintlocks on the rack a few months ago. They have Goex powder but its pricey. Italian Sporting Goods in Vancouver have a limited supply of BP stuff too. They will order stuff in for you too. A 100...
