Looking for some outstanding ML 100 yard target score photos

Looking for a few outstanding 100 yard ML target photos. Must be legal ( NMLRA rules) photos shot by anyone, even someone you do not know. Photos can of any position, any ignition. Would prefer at least three shots or more with the following info if possible: Type of gun, caliber...

Is Ebony a good or bad idea for YOU?

I am not aware of any. I am not a strict HC person, although I want to stay in the ballpark. The fine replies I have already received, tell me I do not want Ebony. It was just my brain passing gas, and evidently not a good one. I will say however, it did relieve some of the pressure up there...

Is Ebony a good or bad idea for YOU?

Wow! Didn't think it would be that out of ballpark. I am not a real picky HC builder, although I want to be in the ballpark of the old timers. I have Ivory on my full stock Hawken, but it is a no no anymore. I like the thought of bone mentioned by Hawk, and will give that some thought...

Is Ebony a good or bad idea for YOU?

I am in the process of making a Early Lancaster flint rifle. I like a thumb area escutcheon or inay. I have used steel, and brass, for other rifles, but never Ebony. I know it is my rifle and can do what I want. My question: Would you like Ebony for a thumb inlay or not? If you do not like...

    Build Finally Finished......After 40 Years!

Hey Doc, What a fine rifle! I am impressed that a first time scratch build would turn out so well. You for sure have background in working with your hands and brain. Good Job! :thumb: Flintlocklar🇺🇲

    A question of possible rust

A nail will work, but if you have a tight pin, it may bend on you. Use a 1/16" allen wrench. Cut down the short right angle to about 1/4" or 3/8". You for sure do not want to use a nail set as said earlier because it is tapered. Flintlocklar 🇺🇸

    I can’t see my sights

FishDFly already mentioned the eye doc. Not only see an eye doc, but be specific about wanting to see your sights better. My doc said he could make me a special set for shooting. When I had cataract surgery in 2014, the surgeon put in corrective lenses too. Don't know your age, but...

Flintlock rifle project. Patch box depth?

Unless you are a period correct guy, make it as deep as you want. It is your rifle. Flintloclar 🇺🇸

Question about original stock RR ferrule design

When the ferrule metal is shaped around a shaft of the desired size and brought back together it forms a skirt below the ferrule. (not sure if skirt is correct name) The bottom inside of the ferrule is then soldered where the two ends meet. My question: Is the skirt below the ferrel then...

    TARGET IDEA

Great idea! Keep the different targets coming. Reminds me of the time we were at a range in Nebraska with Pilgrim non shooting spectators. The Pilgrims were watching with curiosity and interest. A ML buddy who had a license for dynamite had some with him. He said " Watch this" and proceed...

    Thompson percussion rifles

My first purchased percussion rifle in the 70's is a TC 50 cal Hawken. For the money then, (I think about $250) it was a deal. It has never given me anything but good shooting. I would guess some do not like a TC Hawken because the rifling is button installed versus cut rifling. We had a...

    Musket Balls

Flat up or down will work. (Called sprue) The bad thing about down is you can't see 100% that it is down. I do only up. You just don't want the sprue going against the bore as if will make for an uneven fit. You always want consistency. Flintlocklar 🇺🇸
