My Father's Passing - from Gooba Jones, Jr.

God's grace upon your father. My condolences to you and your family in your loss of your father. The two quotes included are from among the many kind and thoughtful messages to you. I found them to be especially poignant for me on this particular day and I hope that you find them so as well...

Spit patching while wearing a mask

What does the CDC now say about the virus on inanimate objects?

Spit patching while wearing a mask

I believe that I've seen a demonstration, but I've never played with it. I grow weary of this plague; even my boat insurer, my bank, ad nauseam, are sending me disease advice. Ms. Mallon did nothing to diminish the "Irish need not apply" epithet.

Spit patching while wearing a mask

Typhoid, a bacterial infection, with fecal-oral spread is a poor "analog" to SARSCOV-2, a virus. Still, a good reminder to use very good handwashing.

Value and rarity of Springfield 1855 Rifle?

Thank you for your response. Most CW rifle-muskets hold little interest for me, but this one IS interesting. I apologize for not being able to answer your question, but I thank you for the posts.

Value and rarity of Springfield 1855 Rifle?

Is that the rifle with provision for Maynard tape priming? Could you post a photo showing the lock, in some detail, just one or two good, clear pictures? Looks like a well-preserved rifle-musket.

    Joe

Hello Joe, welcome aboard! What flintlock? We like pictures. Two sons, a daughter-in-law (carrying my first grand-baby) in the Boise area. Spent some years in the southern 1/2 of Idaho myself.

    Asparagus

Fat ones. Steamed. Much butter, a little salt. Heavenly. Asparagus soup, in the dead of winter is absolutely wonderful. Grilled? Only if I must. My wife peppered the asparagus once. Only once and decades past. Asparagus doesn't grow well on my land. My daughter finds the occasional spear...

    O Takashawa.

Nicotine. The French suspect that nicotine may inhibit the virus from attachment. They are testing transdermal nicotine patches.

    Infected, anyone else?

The Air Force Magazine reported yesterday that COVID-19 "survivors" WILL be allowed to join the armed forces, per DoD. COVID-19 infection history will be viewed as a "pre-existing condition". Any who required hospitalization for COVID-19 will require a waiver. Recruiters will rest easier now.

    Let me introduce myself.

Eargesplittin...? Hello and welcome to you, from northern MN. I was always partial to southern CO, along Hwy 50. If your "name" is a reference to a certain cartridge, I remember the stir that it caused.

    Infected, anyone else?

Nothing was reported in the email with regard to active duty personnel who survive COVID-19 and their continued service. 100% of recruits have been tested in recent weeks.

    Infected, anyone else?

Cute. The AF Times, today, reports that COVID-19 survivors are now permanently banned from accession to the (all) U. S. armed forces, per the DoD. Waivers are not expected to be granted.

    Obviously.

    Infected, anyone else?

Just how would you have worded it? Mainstream "journalists"; to paraphrase a certain, now deceased comic, = liars. Some viruses never clear, in some people. Chickenpox (Varicella) can find a "home" in the spinal dorsal roots and reappear as Zoster (Herpes Zoster/Varicella Zoster/Zoster Sine...

    Any Fiddle heads yet ?

Still early yet here, but probably in 2 - 3 weeks the bar ditches will be filled with them. I have never seen them in the stores, maybe because they grow like weeds here.

    Paterson!!!

I like that! Most BP pistols just don't interest me, but the Paterson I do like! I believe that the TX Rangers used some of them in "Indian fights"? Thank you for posting and now, they're gonna come "out of the woodwork".
