I just completed a TC Hawken stock refinish using your described finish (1-1-1). I ran into a similar situation with my 3 or 4th coat. I added just a touch more turpentine for the final coat. It helped with curing time. I don’t think you need to do anything for a final coat. I let mine set for...

How deep is a great question. I have no idea what it takes for wall thickness. I have had a few done on past barrels but left it to the gunsmith to figure.

For anyone lucky enough to have in their possession a 16 ga., is there enough barrel wall thickness for a jug choke?

Finished up my TC stock. 6 coats of a home brew finish that was shared with me. I will give it a few more days to fully cure and reassemble.
