Powder for Longer or Shorter Barrels.

Because it is nonproductive, negative and contributes nothing to this thread except to show that you are a jerk. Think what you want, but saying what ever comes into you mind is a different matter. Again go find a thread where you can make a positive contribution.

    What if question

An excellent point. Just because you can, doesn't necessarily mean you should.

I am sure there are plenty of threads you could go look at and comment on without having to throw a wet blanket on the conversation. I urge you to go populate those with your wisdom.

Powder for Longer or Shorter Barrels.

Everybody finds fun in doing different things. What takes the fun out of things is people trying to tell you not to do the things that make it fun for you. Think about that a bit.

Powder for Longer or Shorter Barrels.

Really need to thank @Dale Lilly . Early in my Thumper development he provided me with that calculator. It is a by volume measurement. I would suspect the tighter a patch on a RB the higher velocity you will achieve as your load will generate more pressure because of resistance. In short, if...

@Relic shooter That is a wonderful rifle and an elk killer for sure. They knew exactly what they were doing and what they were doing it for when they made those guns.

That is the fun and interesting thing about ML..you got to shoot and shoot and shoot to find out what works for you and your intended hunting situation and match you gun, load and style to your hunt and game.

    Thanks USPS

Back in the 2010's I worked as a Hearing Officer for Idaho's POST. Many times certified letters requiring attendance to hearings would be returned as the recipient refused to sign for them. Upon investigation with the Post Office it was found that they had a 99.5 % or better rate of delivery...

    GRRW .58Cal ball size

I will post this for everyone review. what everyone claims to be heavy loads doesn't seemed to have bothered the generation that used the guns for a living. From Ned Roberts' book, pg 313

    Thanks USPS

In somebody's "GOBI" (General Officer's Bright Idea for those non military types) the USPS decided to take on Amazon's "last mile" deliveries. That has absolutely overwhelmed their ability to do their job. Their hiring practices do not emphasize competence, rather a check in the box for...

Powder for Longer or Shorter Barrels.

The following is a nice historical perspective on "heavy loads" Seems like over 110 grains was the norm and 200 grains was not unheard of. With all the whining about recoil when you talk bout using 100 grains of powder you get in this forum, it would seem we have raised a generation of...

Well done and my pleasure, Sir.

    You wanted it

Powder burns completely and you get the velocity, so that isn't the issue. It is that the pressure is still high and it blows out the skirts even with wads and makes for uneven accuracy. I have come to the conclusion that the best length for a 58cal is 26" Not overly heavy yet, but enough room...

    You wanted it

Mine was a 58 cal 22" carbine barrel for a Renegade. SEXY and light...except that I couldn't get it to shoot fast enough nor accurate enough beyond 100 yards. Loaded down to make it a 75 yard gun and it was fantastic. Just not what I needed and was expecting out or it.

    You wanted it

Yeah, you take that 50, bore it out to 54 or 58 and cut the barrel off to 22" to 24" and you have one fine hunting gun.

My new to me "Bush Buster"

Got a bunch of those I bought already cast. With 100 gr of FFFg Triple 7, I got good accuracy and results out of them, especially in the 1:32 twist barrel. I tried pushing them with 110 gr of FFFg T7, but the accuracy dropped off, but they came out at 1590 fps MV! They are a back up round to...

My new to me "Bush Buster"

Working up my loads in the 54 cal thumpers, I found the 58 cal wads were superior to the 54 cal wads in both accuracy, velocity, and it lowered the standard deviation (SD) of the velocity strings. I would expect you would see the same for the 50 cal with 54 wads.
