Do you disassemble fully to clean every shooting session?

The only time I’ve ever completely disassembled my 1851 was to do some gunsmithing work. It’s not necessary in the part of the Cosmos where I live to do so in order to clean the gun. Those members reporting from the surface of Venus of course have their own regimen, and for good reason.

    Must be more careful

Yikes Hawk, be careful out there. Goes for everyone else, too. We’ve had some deadly heat this year here in TX and elsewhere it’s been even worse. It pays to take a few minutes to learn the signs and symptoms of heat-related injuries and to know what to do. I’m saying this in a general way for...

    Hunting Load vs. Range Load

Hanshi, that is a super tight sounding combo. How’s your palm doing? Or are you saying you can seat that load without need of a short starter due to your modification?

How did you get into the BP Sport and why choose Flintlocks

Cool thread. I got into BP through an interest in military history. I was an avid milsurp collector back when you could buy surplus rifles and ammo by the case, so it was a natural extension of that interest that took me into the 19th and 18th Century. I had always had a keen interest in the...

    Lube Question

I only use battery or wind-powered lube. For the environment. I charge my battery lube by pedaling on a bicycle attached to a dynamo, and I power myself with free-range, non-gmo kale grown in a cage-free garden.

    Hunting Load vs. Range Load

I've had that same experience. I used to own a Pedersoli rifle that hit off to the left with a clean bore, and as it got dirty, the shots would settle up to POI. I figured this was just how muzzleloaders "work" but now that I own a few different rifles I note that Pedersoli was the only one that...

    Internet transactions, payment and shipping

I sent a rifle to a friend on Fri, 28 AUG 20. Package was sent USPS priority mail from Dallas, TX to Pasadena, CA. Expected delivery was Tuesday. Checked tracking this morning and it’s out for delivery a day early. That’s a refreshing change of pace!

    Pal pal question

FYI Hawk, you don’t have to get the credit account if you don’t want to (it’s optional). You can link everything to a checking account.

    Lube Question

What about putting this kind of coating on something like a Maxi ball or a REAL bullet? Anyone tried that?

    Triple seven in flintlock

There are instructions on a can of T7 to get it to reliably work in a flinter by using a few grains of BP as a booster charge. Disclaimer here is that I never tried it but I see from a google of “Triple 7 in a flintlock” several success stories on the ‘net. Edit: I can’t see where anyone is...

Getting the best from my Parker Hale

I don’t know if this sight spring will fit as a drop-in replacement or not. I hope someone can confirm or deny. It’s for a Euroarms musketoon. https://www.ssfirearms.com/proddetail.asp?prod=EEM2407RSS

Getting the best from my Parker Hale

The original .568 bullet shoots better in most guns, but the later .550 bullet loads more easily with fouling (battlefield consideration). Also, the .550 requires a full service charge of powder to grab the rifling, but we’re still talking groups in the 8” range at 100 yards. Your 2 band rifle...
