For anyone considering an Indian manufactured Flintlock

My one Indian musket I like very much. It is a 1795 Springfield and it is simply beautiful. All I have done to it is refinish the stock and antique the barrel and the hardware. It took a very short time to do what I did to the gun, and cost very little money accomplish. I used left over...

    Buck vs Doe

I grew up in n.j. as well, I just turned 70. The last time I hunted there, you could take a doe during doe season, a doe during archery season, a doe during muzzleloader season. You could also take a doe during winter archery season in January. This was back in the 1980s.

Hunting loads for my .58 black powder rifle

Clay Hays has an excellent video out about an open country stalk for an elk, he did with a .50 caliber flintlock longrifle, in which he was successful.

    Why a Fowler

I would get the fowler or the .58 caliber colonial. You could us the fowler on the wild hogs, I know they have plenty of in New Mexico, and the colonial rifle in .58, will give you the knock-down power you will need for elk, or bear. This is of course my very own opinion. Maybe get them both.

I have to rethink the spare cylinder idea

The human hand is a magnificent creation, it can be taught to manipulate the keys of a piano flawlessly to make beautiful music, as well as weal a sledge hammer to crush a piece of granite. It has been my experience in life, that a person with average intelligence, with a dedication to learn and...

UPS has outdone itself. I'm actually impressed by how massive of a failure this is, even Kiblers famous crates are no match! INSURE YOUR STUFF FOLKS!

It seems to me, if you really want your purchases to be safe, you would have to make the journey and pick them up yourself these days. You should hear the horror stories coming out of the fed-ex warehouses in southern California.

    Safely firing an antique gun

That is quite a drop in price, I will have to talk to some I know who are still in the business to get the information. It could be, we are talking about two different kinds of device.

    Safely firing an antique gun

Do you mean an endoscope, or as you say, a colostomy camera ? I use to repair those scopes at a price of about $5000.00 apiece,I believe it would be quite an expense to obtain one now. To buy one new is very pricey, I would hesitate to say how much, for I have been out of the business for over...

Should I or should I not?

My brother and I own an 1873 trapdoor Springfield rifle, that has been in our family for over 120 years. It gets shot at least a couple times a year. Guns are made to be shot.

    Keeping Minie in Barrel

I have done something similar years ago when I had a .58 caliber Zouve. I would roll a .575 Minnie length wise on a flat hard surface, then stand it on it's skirt, then give it a sharp rapp on it's nose with light smooth peice of wood to expand the skirt. It improved accuracy, as well as saving...

    What Remington 1858 to Buy?

I do not imply that your choice of the most beautiful revolvers are not valid, however, although I really like my 1858 Remington, to me, the 3rd model Colt dragoon is the most beautiful revolver ever made. It is not only functional, powerful, and muscular, it seems to me, it truly is a useful...

    What Remington 1858 to Buy?

It depends on how big your hands are. The Remington frame was to small for me to shoot comfortably, Pietta offers a large frame version that fits my hand perfectly. If size is not a problem, it's just a matter of company preference.

    India Barrel Failure

Being a lover of well made motorcycles, I have to say, the Royal Enfield motorcycles of today are made in the finest, most modern, motorcycle facility, I have yet seen. They are made in India of course. I do not own one, at this time in my life, any new aquasitions of motorcycles, will be...
