Percussion cap misfires on new revolvers

I had the same problem on my revolvers as well my friends’ guns. We all switched to Slix-Shot nipples and our problems were solved.

    Trecking with a muzzleloader

Many years ago, I read an article which explored the hunter orange debate. As I recall the article stated, with documented data, that the states which had the higher hunter safety records were not those that required hunter orange. The states with the higher hunter safety records, at that...

    Colt 2nd Generation Pistols

I got a Colt 2nd Generation in the 1860 Army back in 1981. I bought it to shoot and had a lot of trouble with it. The loading lever latch fell out and a gunsmith silver soldered it back in for me so it would never come out. He did such a great job you could never tell it was soldered...

    Sodium Chloride in a Shotgun

My ex-wives never complained about me until I asked them to talk with a french accent and put on a maid's outfit. I never could figure out why they got upset about that. Oh well, I have my guns to keep me warm:-)

Pietta or Navy Arms LeMat... Same?

I've done exactly that for the Remington and Colt. However, there isn't much to play with on the LeMat. I just measured the thickness of the wall between the chambers on all three of my revolvers: LeMat ---------.030" Colt -----------.0545" Remington ---.062" As you can see, the wall...

    Sodium Chloride in a Shotgun

I dare you to call your local market and ask them if they have boneless watermelon. I double-dog triple dare you with a pinky-swear.

    Sodium Chloride in a Shotgun

I don’t get my fryers out of the barnyard. I buy boneless chicken at the supermarket now. So maybe it’s better to buy the best watermelon in the produce section than to risk a butt load of rock salt. Isn’t it marvelous what can be accomplished with modern food processing technology?

Pietta or Navy Arms LeMat... Same?

I bought a Navy Arms LeMat when it first came out. Here's my experience with it. After the bugs are worked out, it's a fantastic revolver. The literature that came with it and all the gun writers stated to use .451 round ball. I did that and the loading lever would bend on about the third...

    Sodium Chloride in a Shotgun

in a modern shotgun shell you are restricted by volume of the amount of rock salt. I wonder what it would be like in a muzzle loader when the rock salt is loaded by the same weight as the lead shot. The salt column as opposed to a shot column would be longer.

    Sodium Chloride in a Shotgun

Now I'm beginning to wonder. Would one still get a better pattern with a "Skychief" load? And, again, would one load the salt by volume or by weight? Still asking for a friend.

    Sodium Chloride in a Shotgun

We've all heard about the farmer who loaded his shotgun with sodium chloride to prevent the pervicacious, pilfering, precocious plunders or the patch from absconding with the delectable watermelon (citrullus lanatus) but is this true or urban legend? In the modern world, misdemeanor offences...
