    James Lowe 1740 Pistols. Shootable?

Great input from all. Thanks. Never been a fan of the big flintlock pistols, but always loved this style because they are slim and elegant.

    James Lowe 1740 Pistols. Shootable?

Interesting. I understand the caution, but like others have said-those guns were made to be shot. True, they are not nearly as strong as modern reproductions, but it seems to me that staying within, preferably below, loads of the era in which they were manufactured would be safe. Still, I am no...

    James Lowe 1740 Pistols. Shootable?

Hello! I know someone who has a set of pistols from 1740. He wants to know if it's OK to shoot them, load, special loading procedure (?) etc. Can someone help with this? Thank you. Here are a couple of photos...

    Rifle Building Classes?

    Thanks. True indeed!

    Rifle Building Classes?

That sounds simple enough. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I have a flash hole liner thing that screws on, so I have to drill and tap a hole to screw the flashole liner in. That's the part that scares me. But you're right: I can just do everything else and that's last anyway.

    Rifle Building Classes?

Good afternoon, I have had a Jim Chambers Mark Silver rifle kit since 2006 and still haven't finished it. Part of it has been because of life, but much of the reason is fear of drilling the flash hole etc., especially if I still need to inlet the barrel more and it then becomes misaligned. I...

    TEMPTATION!!!!!!!

Some good points. What confuses me is that the show I went to was definitely in Kalamazoo, but I could almost swear it was in December or January, and there was snow all over. But then I could be wrong. I will definitley try to get to it this year, unless they throw another plannedemic our way.

    TEMPTATION!!!!!!!

What do y'all think of these as far as authenticity and quality; on their own merit as well as compared to TOTW? http://sittingfoxmuzzleloaders.com/k-17/ http://sittingfoxmuzzleloaders.com/k-16/ http://sittingfoxmuzzleloaders.com/k-6F/

    TEMPTATION!!!!!!!

Darn it! Looking at the TOTW sight, the Fusil de Chase stock (walnut) is back-ordered and expected in 180 days. The Colerain barrel 270 days. The BBL barrel 30. And the ramrod and lock also backoredered but with no date mentioned. It may be good just to order it online and focus on finishing my...

    TEMPTATION!!!!!!!

Anyone here been to Track of the Wolf store? Do they have all the awesome stuff in the catalog there to see and purchase?

    TEMPTATION!!!!!!!

LOL! 982 miles and 14 hours, 33 minutes driving. from Yellowstone to Track of the Wolf. Yeah I know, sounds nuts. But it would be a road trip to enjoy. I could also wait and see about attending that big historical show up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. But then, I could also do both. Honestly what's...

Do you prefer a smoothbore over rifles?

I believe smooth-bores, particularly the Fusil de Chasse, are much better suited to hunting naked, but unafraid.

    TEMPTATION!!!!!!!

So I have a Jim Chambers Mark Silver rifle kit that still needs finishing. I also have to get and make my gear so I can go trekking. Wife is visiting her family and I am taking a road trip from Arizona to maybe Yellowstone to do some writing and photography. And here lies the temptation...

    Does anyone remember or know.,,.

Sad. When I met Chris it was during a time when I was trying to get back on my feet and wanting to get into muzzleloading. The following years were somewhat chaotic and I always thought of muzzleloading and that day at the show. Unboxing my rifle again after all this time made me remember the...

    Does anyone remember or know.,,.

No Deer, I wish I knew what happened to Chris. Were you one of the guys with him at the Kalamazoo show back in 2004? He seemed like a good fellow and was really enthusiastic about muzzleloading. I've been kind of sad all day thinking about what happened, even though I only met him once and...
