    Ramrod channel?

I got it. Bought a 4 ft x 3/8 in. Bit at harbour freight. Had to use a diamond thingy to sharpen the bit. Very dull. Did try it until I sharpened it. Worked out fine. I gotctwo of those bits as they were dirt cheap on clearance. Sure was nervous doing it but just an in wasn't bad. Thanks

    Ramrod channel?

I would like to lengthen the ram rod channel by 3/4 in possibly 1 in. I've measured and probed and drilled pe Ep holes LOL. It appears I would be ok going an in. And not run into anything including ramrod. Ok is there a special bit? I'm thinking harbour freight as they have a piece long drill...

    Powder question

I read a post of a guy using 120 gr. 2f in his 20 ga smoothbore. Seems like pretty Stout load. #2 is 3f ok for my 20 ga. For turkey and squirrel ,reason I ask is I really don't want to have two powders in my inventory. And what would be a decent stiff load without stressing the stock or gun in...

    Oil finsh permalyn

Permalyn is to glossy for me too,, but a real light rub with 0000 steel wool and then a good rub with soft cloth and some rubbing compound ,, basically wax,, and it's a nice soft sheen.

    Oil finsh permalyn

Is there something I can get local that has hardness and will look as good as a permalyn finish?

One more question on shading areas

My fusil dechasse hunting gun is ready for finish. Would you use something like bone black or any of the things to shade in around the metal parts like buttplatecome,,pipes,,triggergaurd or just put the finish on? I do like the shaded ones I've seen but leery of just making a mess. I was going...

    Drill bits ??

I got my drill press down to 400 rpm. It's a digital readout. Just move one lever and go from 400 to somewhere around 2500. It ran my new harbour freight counter sink pretty well but still wanted to get hot. I used a alcohol base liquid for cooling and only engaged material for about 3 seconds...
