    Turkey Hunting with round ball

Perfectly legal in Texas. Killed plenty with round ball. From the side I hit them right in the middle. DRT every time and don’t even touch valueable meat. Not sure why folks here have trouble killing them…

    Harness buckles/Roller buckles

Would the roller buckle be in general use as early as 1760? Don’t know when they came into use…

    Frizzen advice needed

You are not wrong…however, an uneven surface will wear the flint considerably faster. And, that same chatter that wears the flint will result in less contact down the face of the hammer and thus less “sparks” as a result. A smooth face yields a smooth swipe from top to bottom and more of the...

    Frizzen advice needed

One of the advantages to being self employed is that your boss is likely a real a-hole, which makes it an easy, guiltless, pleasure to run away from work and do what you want for a few hours! Started on the frizzen with some 220 grit wrapped around a steel dowel. Smoothed up, and polished...

    Frizzen advice needed

Seems like a well made lock to me. Rifle looks to have been made in the 80’s, not a kit. Bill Large barrel. Pics below if anyone can ID it. Edit to add: the nipple fell out of the lock, got to figure out how to reinstall that… So much to learn about these rifles!!

    Completed Woods runner fully dressed.

Perfect balance of Art and Tool, OP. Very impressive rifle! I think these rifles would look outstanding with a sling. I’ve yet to see one fitted with such, but I think it would add a great deal to their appeal.

    Frizzen advice needed

A friend brought me this lock yesterday and the face of the frizzen is pretty abused. Pics below. I know there are professional services to reface/reharden etc, but what can be done in the meantime? 400 grit sandpaper to smooth out the finish? A courser grit first? The flint seems a bit...
