    Matchlocks at sea?

Like @TobJohn mentioned, the Vasa Museum in Stockholm has a wonderful collection of arms (and everything) recovered from the ship that sank in 1628. During my visit some 15 years ago, I recall matchlocks in various states of decay, none of them of discernible difference from the standard guns...

Battle accounts of matchlocks vs. flintlocks?

I am admittedly no expert in the battle itself, more familiar with the arms used. The Vienna Arsenal Museum has a wonderful collection of captured Ottoman guns and Austro-Hungarian arms used. To find any accounts or statistics would be something I’m not well versed enough to look into

Caucasian Miquelet "Cossack" Pistol & Locks

Muzzleloading is legal, however is regulated the same as shooting modern breechloaders. New shooters must own a smoothbore for 5 years before being permitted to own a rifled long gun (handguns are completely out of the question unless specifically granted to you by the president) this is of...

Caucasian Miquelet "Cossack" Pistol & Locks

I'm unsure of how that process would go on his end, but it's worth asking. He makes everything to order, I've seen him quote between $200-$400 for a lock, depending on decoration, unsure of an entire piece. PM me for his contacts.

They are good folks, helped a lot of Ukrainians since the war started. They also make Japanese Tanegashima locks

Caucasian Miquelet "Cossack" Pistol & Locks

A little photoshop brain storming on how to modify a Kibler rifle into a Khirmi A Caucasian wall gun lock, lockplate measures 5 inches across. And a couple of Khirimi with Turkish locks. Not a super common feature. This first one is attributed to Armenia.

    Traditional M/L Guns from Afghanistan

The triggerguard is interesting. Do you find it adds any kind of comfort or change from your other Jezail? This rifle is Persian design but was made in Afghanistan and gifted to Habibullah Khan the Amir of Afghanistan and dated 1906-1907

    SXS with only one lock?

I've come across a very peculiar (to me at least) system for SXS utilizing one lock and what appears to be a split frizzen. These gun come from the Caucasus and I'm wondering if this kind of system was used elsewhere? I'm not well versed in SXS or double guns in general, so input is appreciated.

    Round barrels?

Either or, just trying to gauge availability. I’ve checked track and they only have octagon and octagon to round, like everyone else I’ve checked (Dixie, colerain, rice, etc)

    Ottoman Guns

In terms of the preference of the Miquelet over the French styled Flintlocks, it seems they took a very "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" attitude on them. The Ottoman military really started to modernized/conform to the Western European style in the 1820's, I suppose the Flintlocks really...

Caucasian Miquelet "Cossack" Pistol & Locks

Wow Barud, great finds! I dont know how I missed the ones in the Hermitage, I lived in St Petersburg for years! I'm still in awe of the one lock doubles, such a strange set up to me. Here are some more photos I've come across. Some action shots Examples of their gun cases A very...

    Traditional M/L Guns from Afghanistan

There is a common misconception that Afghanistan is in the "Middle East" However, it is part of Central Asia and only borders one Middle Eastern country, Iran. Although not the most forested place, they certainly are around. For instance, Kunar Province. There is a book in the works that...
