    54 cal flintlock smoothbore pistol

I use 45 and 50gr of 3f in my .54 smoothie with .533 ball and thick pillow ticking. Recoil and blast is not too bad but accuracy is poor past 15rds.

Shooting PRB in a 12 GA New Englander report

I use 80gr of triple 7 with a .690 ball and thick pillow ticking in my CVA 12ga. It’s a snug fit but I get around a 10” spread at 50yrds. I have also used 1oz lee key drive slug in WAA12 wad on top of a over power card with a little bit better grouping of 7” or so. with same powder charge...

    Round Ball in Damascus Barrel

I have an 160yr Belgian 12ga I shot .690 patched lead balls through with no problems. Since it’s so old, I keep my charge at 65gr of triple 7 and still get close to 900fps. As others mentioned, it will depend on the condition of the barrels for it be considered safe. I started off with 25grs...

    12 gauge round ball size

I used .690 patched ball (pillow ticking) and paper cartridges in all my 12ga with success. I also used 1oz Lee key drive slug in plastic shot cup with some success. With the key drive slug, I use a thin nitro card over the powder then the lee slug in waa12 wad. I sometimes also use a 1/16” 20ga...

    SOLD Beautiful Pietta 12ga Shotgun

Very nice condition with deep bluing and excellent wood. Only marks I see a small spot on the top pf barrel (see pics) and some scratches on the metal butt plate. Excellent shooter as I put about 20rds of ball through it. Looks like the bore is chromed but I’m not certain thus; see pic of...

    Pietta muzzleloader shotgun hammer spring

Fixed! I just put a shim at the bend at the spring to give it just a little more power to set off the musket caps (been converted to musket). Those caps do appear to be very hard compared to no11s.

    Pietta muzzleloader shotgun hammer spring

I have a Navy arms Pietta muzzleloader shotgun that has a weak (right barrel) hammer spring. Does anyone know where I can get one or what other manufacturers will fit it?

Odd 12 gauge slug/round ball questions

For my old Belgium double, I have used 65gr FFF with Lee .690 patched round balls which chrono just over 950fps. I’m sure you could use some more powder with a modem remake but, mine is a very old shotgun. Accuracy was within 6-8” at 40yrds and close to 10” at 50yrds. I tried the same formula...

Thoughts on 1858 Remington revolving Carbine

Nice video. From what I’m reading, 900fps+ with 200-230gr bullet is what some folks are getting using 25gr of 3f powder. How was the accuracy day to 100yrds?

Thoughts on 1858 Remington revolving Carbine

Tried asking this on other forum but will try it here…was considering getting the 1858 revolving carbine and would like to hear from those who have them. I understand keeping my support hand behind the cylinder but, do these spit cap pieces, sparks, powder, etc. back into the shooter’s face...
