    Navy Arms .58 Hawken Hunter?

I was at a gun show and saw this guy on a table a what I thought was a good price and it came home with me. Never saw one before and that short heavy barrel and huge bore really caught my attention. Spent some time reading up on what it is and it looks like a Hawken Hunter to me. When...

Colt 1860 Army 1st gen questions

I gave the 1860 a good rub down with wd40, left the brass and wood alone. I also aged the modern loading lever a bit. Pretty happy with the results. Scrubbed out the barrel and it looks like there is rifling left. Also bought this heavy duty nipple wrench and hope it does the trick. It should...

Colt 1860 Army 1st gen questions

Thanks guys. I have it apart now and will try to age the Italian parts. The rest of the metal parts will get a good oil soaking/ rub down.. The bore looks really good! For a 150 year old gun that was found in a basement rafters it could be in worse shape LOL...I'll post a pic when it's back...

Colt 1860 Army 1st gen questions

A buddy of mine sold me a 1863 vintage Colt 1860 army that has a couple modern replacement parts, but otherwise numbers matching. He wanted to buy a modern 9mm and I figured that even tho it wasn't complete, it was my best chance to own a original (mostly lol). The loading lever/latch, wedge...

Armsport Hawkens 20 ga / 50 ca combo info?

Just picked this up at a local gun show. Cant recall seeing a smooth bore Hawken combo at any shows before. .50 cal and 20 gauge combo, set triggers, nice wood. 1979 proof date. Appears unfired, just bit of finish worn at muzzle from case wear. I searched this forum and did some googling but...

Whats your opinion on this one?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I went and looked at it again and took some more pics. I was wrong, the ram rod is iron with a screwdriver formed on the end and as you said, too short. To me, The frizzen spring looks a little short too Here are a few more pics of the gun showing the...

Whats your opinion on this one?

Thanks guys. After reading that article and more googling pictures, I am leaning towards either a parts gun or Belgian copy of a charleville.

Whats your opinion on this one?

I was browsing a local gun shop and ran across this 20ga? flintlock smooth bore. It was in nice condition with no noticeable cracks etc. Lock worked as should. The ram rod is wood. The clerk new absolutely nothing about it except that they just put it out. I was wondering if anybody here has...
