    Just the ramrod. There was no need to remove anything else on mine. It is a tight fit. I gave the whole barrel some very, very gentle raps with a nylon hammer and that helped persuade things to move.

    This is the 1805 conversion, correct? I've had mine apart and there was no need to remove the pin. All it required was removing the tang screw, wedge and ramrod.

    I'm still new to the world of muzzleloading; I didn't know temper isn't a concern and that heating a barrel cherry red isn't a concern. Thanks!

    Heating a barrel red to hot stamp

    I found a video of a reproduction 1805 pistol having its barrel heated red hot to have stamps applied in an effort to “defarb.” I don’t know much about metallurgy, but wouldn’t this take the temper out of the steel? Or is this not an issue?
