I would like a question answered. Was Getz contracted with to replace the original barrel by the buyer? If so, was it's cost less then the aforementioned credit of $750 from the builder. And finally, if it was ordered.....at what date in time?

Hell to be honest I got my feathers ruffled when some one discredited Lon saying he was blind or was trying to pull something over. Should I have?? no probably not. But it is what it is and I wrote what I did. Either way I don't feel that I any more discredited either party. I just saw things from both points of view and got involved in a topic that I should have clearly avoided.. Back to the quote..

Looking at a photo of mine on Photobucket, all I see is this:

Photo info
File Name: Tent23.jpg (Edit)
File Size: 520 kb - 800 x 600
Resolution: 800 x 600

Where are you getting all that other data?

The data is imbedded inside the picture, you need a special program to read the EXIF data, it's very much like the microchips you see in dogs and cats these days which contains their owner's address, you just need the tool to display the data the chip contains.

Windows 7 can display this data without an extra tool, just go to the picture on your hard drive (Not on a website, it has to be on your hard drive as a file), right click and go to Properties, then click on the Details tab and if there is EXIF data imbedded it will appear there. Windows Vista may also be able to display the data, I don't remember if Windows XP does and I know versions older than XP won't be able to.

It's purpose is for professional photographers to document what settings they used to take that picture so the settings can be replicated in the future if the picture comes out the way they want it.

Amazingly,

with all the numerous pics of the guns already posted as evidence.... from all angles,....I forgot to ask for one of the guns received from the lock side.

Pg 6 asked about the vent liner type, was it removable or not? Or filed flush?

Still no answer on if Getz is making a replacement for the original barrel....

Folks, this is from the original post....

"He reloaded for another shot and stepped to the line to fire. Nothing happened. He inspected the rifle and found the vent liner had blown out. We looked for the liner thinking it had just fallen out of the barrel."

You ever dropped prime in.3/8" hole ?

Think about this...People.

Yeah, I mentioned that this morning, since this thread is supposed to be about safety ...

This thread is like a run-a-way train, and the grade just gets steeper, gotta crash soon ...

Not knowing the individuals involved on either side of this deal gone bad, and not having seen the guns in person, I have no comment as to who is right or wrong.
I will say that Grey Whiskers / Lon is a good man who I have known for quite a while now and he is one of few who I would trust without question. I stand with Roy on that point. :v

Directed to the Two Brothers,....

From the Original Post....

" I contacted the maker of the barrels, John Getz. He was interested in the heavily damaged barrel after I told him what happened. I sent the barrel to him for his inspection and opinion. He also had his father look at the barrel and offer an opinion. The barrel was damaged by the builder during the browning process. The bore had filled with the browning solution. After the browning process, the solution was not neutralized or cleaned from the bore. The inside of the barrel had been eaten away in many spots almost the entire length of the barrel. Getz told me the barrel could not be salvaged. This barrel had never been fired. When Getz returns the damaged barrel to me, my brother and I intend to cut the barrel in half lengthwise to expose the amount of damage."

You have evaded the answer I requested long enough...
Is Getz making you a replacement barrel?...

Yes or No?

On this matter I would stand, if I could right a long with ya. Lon has always been good to me and from our discussions, I would believe anything he had to say about it.

You are definately right about that! I've seen everything that a reality show would have in it on here lol!

I apologise if I offended anyone, I let myself get a bit angry and I should not have.

No, I did not look to see if the liner had blown out prior to priming. My oversight. Mea culpa. The barrel and pan were darkened by fouling from the previous shots taken. I did not pick the vent prior to the shot because I did not perceive a need. Mea maxima culpa. The rifle had maybe one flash in the pan from the first shot after receipt until the last one.

The most Getz would do is to supply a new barrel IF the owner of the old barrel was willing to pay him the money for it.
He is not responcible for what happens to a barrel after he has sold it unless it has a fault that was of his own doing.

Getz is not in the gun building business so the barrel would not have a vent liner it it. It would not have the underlugs or the sight dovetails on it and it would not be browned or blued.
The barrel would be the same as a barrel that a builder buys before he starts building a gun.

What, two WHOLE hours?

24 hours from the day before back on page 6. And even though I have asked again, and had responses, the questions went unanswered.

I would guess , they bought a new barrel and would replace the original, before cutting the old one in half. Just seems to make sense.

Same as putting a new oversized vent liner in the second gun.
