Hehe, couldn't resist the DWW reference.

So, I took the VZ-24 I don't shoot anymore down to a local gun store yesterday, and they took it in trade. For this:

I will admit, I still like the look of the Navy better (the barrel, obviously), but Capper's right, they sure feel a lot better with the NOTICEABLY larger grip (live it up, Capper!!!). It's an Armi, and doesn't appear to have been fired much, if at all. The cylinder notches have been beaten to death with frequent cycling, but a little mic-ing and filing will soon fix that.

I handled a ROA at the store, and if you're reading this E. Texas, you'll be MUCH happier with the '60. Just while gripping the ROA, the back of the TG was pushing uncomfortably right on my bird knuckle. I could definitely see hanging it up within one cylinder. Heck E-Tex, if it were me, I'd put yours up in the classifieds like yesterday, and grab a '60.

Hopefully, I'll have time to run some lead tomorrow!!

Oh, were they all made to be fitted with a shoulder stock? The additional screws freaked me out until it dawned on me what they were for.

im envious! im ready to buy a 60 and bubba has one for sale in the classifieds im waiting for him to respond with a pic. that old geezer capper  has had a lot of experience and aint afeared to rub it in so expect an i told you so outta him! if i dont hear from bubba by the weekend ill call cabellas mon. morn and order me one! tell me how it shoots! you got a good size paw too. its sure a nice lookin pistol ,i think the round barrel is astheticly pleasing!

an added note, when i orderd the 58 i didnt have a source to try them out in a comparison like you did! the MAIN reason i got it was it was the 5 1/2 barrel, i wanted a crossdraw. i knw you can get a 60 in 5 1/2 but your not going to find them many places as the 58. also the loading lever on the 60 looks shorter than the 58 i thought it might be harder to load! i have since decided that the longer barrel will suite me fine , well.....live an learn :v

No rubbing in from me. I'm glad you have a proper Colt now.

There is a civilian model without the screws for the rifle stock. It's the one I use, because i'm a cowboy, and not in the civil war. :idunno:

East Tex.........I did buy a Pietta 5 1/2" 1860 Colt once. I bought it to see how i'd like the barrel length with cutting up my Uberti's. The loading arm is short for loading a tight fitting ball. I remove the cylinder to load it, so that wasn't a problem for me, but might be if you load in the gun.

So, after trying it I sent it back to Cabelas, and cut the barrels on my 60 Uberti's to 5 1/2". I think it the best pointing gun possible now. I can draw them what seems like twice as fast now.

Since I don't use the sights to shoot in CAS. I didn't bother putting on a front sight, but I did shorten the loading lever just for looks.

Colts rock!

What kind of Vz.24 did you trade? Money wise, maybe not. But to get a gun that you will enjoy, totally worth it.

Its true Capper has me wanting an 1860 also. We need to kick him from the forum, he is a bad (good) influence. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

It's people like him that give REMMIES a bad name! :hmm:

"When it comes to the Cap & Ball, one size DON'T fit all!"

Anyone with a Remmy they hate can send it my way. I love the things!

You AIN'T gettin' mine! :blah:

Both the regular 8" as well as the stainless Buffalo do a fantastic job!

Dave
