I've got an old jug like what you picture for moonshine or whiskey, had it for years, I've no ideal what was originally in it, but I know what I'd like to put in it now. Any ideals how I can clean this thing out so I can drink out of it, whats a good way to sanitize an wash???

I'd start with just a washing in plain old water and dish detergent. If the inside looks cruddy when you shine a light down inside, try water and denture cleaning tablets. It's surprising how well denture cleaning tablets work. If the inside looks really dubious, you may add a lttle bleach to the dishwater when washing then just ensure that you rinse real well.

If you want THAT OLE jug look and know what WAS in it go to a liquor store and ask for a Platte Valley Corn Wiskey. It comes in a QT. size crock jug with a cork and wax seal( and next to Crown Royal its my fav). Bent

If want to look at a pix go to Ebay sometimes they list them as vintage jugs but they ain't

Those jugs have baked on printing but I'v covered a couple with fur and leather to protect em in the woods or camp. Bent

Mongo,
I have several of these old jugs!First off
make sure you do not have a collectors piece.
I have two worth around $200,if I can find
a buyer....Which I really don't care about.
Nothing does better to sanitize about anything
than Clorox.Just rince with hot water after a small donation from Clorox IMO

snake-eyes :hmm:

+1 with snake-eyes,
Folks that bottle wines and beer will sterilize with clorox or a mild bleach solution.
It don't take much, a tablespoon or two in the full gallon will kill any bugs.
Then several rinsings after the solution. I'd wash it then rinse then fill it with water and let it stand awhile and taste for any remaining bleach before puttin the good stuff in.

Oh heck yes! :haha:

nothing better than filling with warm water and putting in a teaspoon full of baker soda. Let it sit for an hour and rinse well.

Sorry about the broken seal (not really) I'm immune to snakebite fer a while though. :haha:

This is some seriously good stuff though folks, none of your Georgia moon stuff! If you find some grab it, cuz it ain't gonna last.

If it wasn't for this stuff I'd never have found the true meaning of "All alone in the Ozarks........Where no-one can hear you scream!" :surrender:

Any snake that bites me is going to die from Irish Whiskey poisoning.
So you're saying it had more to do with Bushmills and "The Creature" than St. Paddy that there are no snakes in Ireland then? :rotf:
