Do ya want it to stay brown color or to etch it and make a pattern after bluing the other parts that don`t have mustard on it. Like you pistol looks
Forgive my ignorance about this, did you mean lots of brown under there implying that it would be etched good.
I expected the mustard to give the steel a more Brown color and less blue color. Not etched.

Well its a tough go, the psrt under the mustard stayed grey and slightly etched. I put fresh mustard over the old everyday for three days, no patience either. :haha:
The part between the mustard rusts too so ya gotta try and get that off too before bluing. I aplied blue with a small paint brush after the mustard was removed.
It`s different alright. :hmm:

Hey guys i`m not hearing any opinions, is it that bad? If ya all think so i`ll blue it all. :)

What a cannon, Lenn, when I read ten inch bore, I thought you really was gonna shoot a bucket of nails :rotf: :rotf:

I'm itchin to get my shop set back up

Not too shabby. I like it in the second set of pictures better, what did you do different? I think the technique will take some perfecting by anyone who uses it. I like the contrast between the colors. I used a spray bottle to apply my Blue and I used a ziplock bag with a pinhole in it to make my mustard lines smaller. The coolest thing about metal is that you can always strip it down and start over if you aren't satisfied. :hatsoff:

I like it. It resembles an aged damascus barrel from a distance. I think it might be better though if you covered the whole barrel with the mustard for a day or so to give it a little heavier patina.

Thanks guys, yep I think the thin stripes is what made oldsarges look good.
I`ll try a coat of mustard all over and see what that does, I know it will make me yellow. :rotf:

looks pretty good pitchy!!! like that expierimentin part of ya! try anything! and usually looks dang good!
