Well I must be crazy, went out to the shop this morn and made another Hakenbuchse in 75 cal.
The barrel drilled over size which a drill generally does and I want to shoot 12 gauger slugs in it so I made a bump-up die set. The hole in the die is the same as the bore, ya put the slug in the die and take the rounded rod and pound it into the slug. It works perfect expanding the slug out to a friction fit in the bore. The slugs are hollow and have grooves on the out side that ya can put lube in.
I think it`ll work out good. The gun has a serpentine with a long lever and is 40 in. long so ya can shoulder it.
Ran out of day light so didn`t get a chance to shoot it yet.
Hope ya like it.

I am amazed at your ingenuity, skills and enthusiasm. This is rapidly becoming my favorite place on the forum. Keep up the good work.

I hate to ask such a leading question, but would that be legal for big game hunting in Minnesota? Hee hee. (Make sure you get pictures of the kill if you do).

I think you'll like the 75 caliber. More smoke and noise!!! Nice job.

Thanks Jac S, i`m wore out time for a break.
I wanted a 12 gauge and don`t have a ream to get the bore the right size so had to make a way to make the slug fit.
Can`t wait to shoot it which I plan on doing tomorrow if the snow storm that`s coming isn`t to bad. :)

Thanks bro, someone mentioned that the barrel had to be at least ten inches but i`ll have to verify that. This barrel is 12 in, ten inch deep bore.
It would make a story to remember wouldn`t it. :)

It's gonna be interesting to see if that bumped up slug stabilizes. Nice job on the gonne.

Thanks Davy :) It`ll be a close range affair, but can shoot shot too.
Thanks Runnball. :)

Welcome to the big bore club! Mind you that the smaller bores are fine and all. But nothing and I mean NOTHING beats the looks of others when those big babies go off!

Nice work as always! :applause:

Thanks Teleoceras, i`m excited about shooting it, will of course post pics of the events.

 There's no stopping you when you get started---eh Lenn? Prolific is the word for you, now we are getting to a serious size bore. I still have the desire for a Kraken a la Claypipe a 1.00" bore--that ought to make some noise as well. Nice going buddy. :hatsoff: "Doc"

First shot with 50 grains FFF, not impressive.
Second shot and third with 70 grains FFF not bad but could go more. What kinda loads do you guys shoot?

Nice looking Hakenbuechse!

Its so simple to build but very nice looking, I almost want to build my own, just a bit bigger. :hmm:

I would love to build a hakenbuechse like that one in 1'' would be truly awesome.

I don't use more than 50grs FFg (I don't have FFFg powder). That is because of the short barrel and not wanting any unburnt powder.
