I had bought from them fixed (

Might be that there is another domestic distributor for the same gun. Euroarms has a couple of distributors that carry parts for their rogers and spencer revolvers and their long arms. One is the Regimental quartermaster and there is one other very good one - I disremember the name right now. Euroarms america will refer you if it's one of theirs. There are also several distributors of Pietta/and Uberti guns and parts. Palmetto is about the only Italian company that nobody else will touch. Putting a new part on one of those wouldn't be worthwhile as it would just fall off again.

Not to be a know it all but I predicted a price drop on the Howdah long ago. Now the .58 cal. rifled barreled Howdah is down to $499.99 at Cabela's. Unfortunately the second part of my prediction will probably also come true.

I bet everyone who wanted a Howdah is already informed but here is the Link below and I understand there is an attachable Rifle style stock available also.

wow, this really is a case of 'ya snooze, ya lose' because the cabela price is back up to $599. for the 20x20.. in december 2009, both were available for $499.

i clicked on their howdah while it was still 'on sale' at $499 and scored one of the .58 x .58 models. just now i noticed they have split the difference: $499 for 58x58 and $599 for 20x20.

be advised: it's huge (19" overall length) and VERY heavy (feels like it's over 5 lbs) and shoots with real authority (so far i'm up to 45gr FFF with .570 prb and have tested .577 conicals).

recoil is very tolerable but hitting the target is still a challange.. last week i finally figured out that mine is shooting *REALLY* high and have started correcting by lowering the rear sight (it folds up and down) so at least i'm on the paper now.

given that pedersoli's u.s.a. outlet, flintlocks etc.com, is asking $650, i wouldn't wait too long deciding whether or not you want one.. prices seem to be heading up at several outlets (cabela's lemat is now $829 - ouch!).

life's short, enjoy it while you can....

Yours has a rear sight???? Mine doesn't, it's a 20x20. Is that a feature for the .58 only? I've only seen them with the front bead.

i'm not really sure where the cutoff point is for the rear sight because they seem to have changed the ramrod device as well somewhere along the way.. mine also has the brass bead front sight.

some 20x20's have a wooden ramrod under the barrels and no rear sight; some have the hinged metal device.. likewise, the 58x58 seem to have only the metal swivle device.. i have no idea what the 20x50 models look like.... methinks they should make up their mind.

fyi, i tried to buy just a 20x20 barrel from flintlocks etc.com and was told they are available for a mere $550 - no f---ing way, jose.. at this point i'm convinced pedersoli, usa, is a pure ripoff as they also want me to fork out $12 for the users manual even though one was not in the box when i bought it.. everything they offer online is way overpriced (that's the snob appeal for having their name on something).

perhaps you should ask flintlocks or cabela if the new 20x20's have a rear sight.. however, i don't really think it's worth the effort since it actually causes the aim to go way high at 25 yrds or less and you end up folding it out of the way anyway.. it might be useful for longer range hunting though.

regardless, a howdah definitely draws a crowd at the range - ha ! KABOOM ! !
