at the range this a.m.firing my n/w trade gun smoothbore flinter. squinting to try and make out where the ball landed at the 50 yard target when I saw something smoking on the ground. It was my last patch. I called out to the other shooter-he had one of those new fangled what you call smokeless powder muskets-and picked up the patch. Brought it back to the line still smoldering. It has been terribly dry here this summer.
