Put Uberti 1848 upside down in hot water, really hot, near boiling. Cleaning after going to range. About 1/3 of grip was submerged about 20 minutes. Now the portion submerged is all milky white.

Didn’t help it, wait till it drys then you’ll know.
Ya. I told wife i will give it a couple days to see if it dries out before i panic and order new.
Next time the grips will come off first.
I'll add this to my "never do" list. I'm with Phil - dry it slowly in a cool place and hope it doesn't crack. Then sand and finish again. Good luck.

They make small bottles of white appliance enamel. A little sanding , then painting and you got a set of "Ivory" grips.

Why does everyone call the Colt grip, grips? It is a one piece grip.
