Here's the "go to" video. The one I found the most complete and someone else posted the same one.
But there's a lot of learning on the fly. For me anyway.
Things I found:
Practicing helps, but unless you are burning the exact wood it is not going to burn the same. Not even another stock (Am walnut compared to whatever walnut Pedersoli uses in my case).
So keep your eyes on the color changing (charring).
And if you need to touch up spots you might have missed, watch overheating the wire that is already pretty hot. If they get cherry, which happened a couple times with me, you will see the individual wire wraps. And they look nothing like curly maple
I tried this first on a test piece of wood with annealed black wire and the galvanized deflects the flame better.
24ga works well and conforms easily to the curves. And it did not leave grooves like the 20ga wire I tried on my test piece. True Value hardware in my case. Ace did not have any.
I used a typical Bernzomatic turned down pretty low.
My wire wrap job. Don't be afraid to snip it and do sections at a time. No such spools here like the video guy uses.

You SIR did a BEAUTIFUL job!! VERY IMPRESSIVE. 
I remember back a ways, folks were doing the "tiger stripes" on M1A stocks with a torch.
