New paper cartridge former

Rios Innovations has produced a new type of paper cartridge former for cap & ball revolvers that looks interesting.
Have any of you guys tried this product yet , and if so how well does it work ?

Have not. It looks interesting. Is there a video out on use.

Yes there is a video on their website. It looks as if it works pretty well. I may give it a try and see.

Looks more complicated than Mike's (Duelest) kit.
I like simple, cause Im stupid, simple.

Thanks for posting the link. l guess this cartridge former is so new no one on here has tried it yet. I can't make up my mind between this new type or just go with the Guns of the West kit . Decisions decisions. Lol

Im stuck on Guns of the West.
$6 Amazon and 10 packs of papers can be yours.
Also wasted $12 on a 3/4 inch paper punch to make the round ones.
The type like a patch punch not those whimpy grade school ones shown on You Tube.

Well, couldn't resist myself and ordered one each in 44 & 36. Saw the twist feature and thought it was a good idea. I already have a couple other other makers kits but making paper cartridges is something I enjoy doing, especially in the slow winter months.

Please give us a review on this new type of cartridge former after you have had a chance to use it .

The cartridgekits.com kit (an advertiser here) is superior, and comes with all of the stuff you need. Someone mentioned Mike's kit, and even he did a review on the Cartridge Kits kit and found it better. I won't even comment on guns of the west. You only need one paper cartridge former kit, and it is from Cartridge Kits.

This looks very good to a clumsy old guy like me.

I have been using the GOTW kit in .36 and .44 and find it very simple to use and makes great looking paper cartridges. I use thin super glue to attach the ball giving a more secure bond than the stick glue.

In everyone’s experience, what has been found to be the ideal glue for making paper cartridges?

Do you buy this thinned super glue premade or do you thin it yourself? What do You use to thin it with?bwhat is it’s drying time? Does it help stiffen the walls of the cartridge? What sort of residue is left after firing?

I get mine at Hobby Lobby and it’s the thin watery kind. It’s perfect for securing the ball to the paper requiring very little for an instant bond. It’s flammable so it leaves virtually no residue.

I use the white Elmers glue sticks, not the purple ones. You guys are so over complicating things. For lead balls there are instructions at CartridgeKits.com to just extend the paper so that it comes up over the sides of the ball. And the Deluxe kit even comes with a loading block, so you can do all of your cartridges first, then get glue on your fingers when you do the balls. The guns of the west system not only uses the top of the forming dowel as a powder measure, he suggests that you rub a little lube on the sides with this ridiculous stick that he sells. He also doesn't give you a punch for your bases. He wants you to buy them from him.

If you shoot those balls without proper lube, you will eventually get chain fires. That is why the Cartridgekits.com kits come with 50/50 lube, and a can in which to heat it and dip your cartridges. You will find that this was not only the original methodology, but it also consistently lubes your cylinder gap so you don't get dry crud buildup. I have seen several people ruin their guns by forcing a cylinder to turn when it was full of dry crud. But with the lube dip method you can shoot all day because the crud drips off with the melted lube.

I did not initially attack the GOTW, because it isn't nice, and Dustin makes a lot of great content to get people into bp shooting. But he really should just do a an affiliate deal with CartridgeKits.com. His kits work, but they are rudimentary. And the most common messages in the inbox at CartridgeKits.com is that they wish they had seen them before wasting money on Dustin's kit.

My daughter made this video. And they sponsor this forum because I suggested that they do. It is the only place I have found online that has true (cantakerous old sometimes nasty) enthusiasts who really love this stuff and continue the knowledge into the next generations.

Good video. 10 X better if they showed LOADING. just My opinion

Same thing on second video. I wanna see how they load (especially revolvers).

Really? You just kind of scootchie the cartridge down into the cylinder until it's just the ball or conical sitting on top. Then you move it under the loading level and squish it as normal. I have some articles and videos on GunsAmerica here.
