Just awesome, great find. You just never know where you will find treasure.
I think the box is cool too. Do you have any idea what the inventory coding is about on the papers attached to the box lid?

Thanks for the pictures of the labels, they may be an indication of the true nature of the box.

Earlier this month my wife's girlfriend called from Georgia asking if I would be interested in 2 revolvers. That was a very strange question from a porcelain hoarder but I said sure if they are not ceramic made I will get them. As it turned out first weekend of May our lady bought a chest for $25 with some dishes in it at a local garage sale. Back home she took out dishes and started to clean the chest when she discovered another secret compartment with 2 civil war revolvers in it ...... inside the main compartment there's a latch that you have to pull in order for lower compartment to open.
I obtained both revolvers and a chest and a dishes from her, story comes for free :)

You are one lucky man! I bet you could fall into a cess pool and come out smelling like a rose? I wouldn' be surprised if those dishes are worth more than the pistols? If I were you I would buy a lottery ticket ASAP! LOL!

Wow you sure scored, I've seldom seen something that cool at garage sales in Western states.
Looks like with replaced nipples & a little bore conditioning you will have a pair of good historical shooters. :ghostly:
Relic shooter
I was able to take out 5 old nipples this morning, will order replacement

That is the find of a lifetime!! Both pistols are a treasure and look to be in fantastic condition.
It’s not uncommon to find hidden drawers or compartments inside trunks or chests. My grandfather was a master woodworker by trade. He built a large wooden chest for his tool which mostly date from the turn of the century into the 30s. My father passed and I have the chest complete with tools. In the chest there is a small drawer that’s hidden from view that locks. Unfortunately there were no guns inside… just some small things.
Thanks for sharing your find!!

Outstanding find but I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering about this "wife's girlfriend" situation. ;)
Her situation? Well she is single .... and as you can see that woman capable of fetching some good guns .... soooo if any of you folks need a wife I can hook you up with her .... for a finders fee of course ;)
