Is anyone familiar with Captain Brett Gibbons? He’s a writer of historical books regarding the development and use of the rifle-musket and black powder. He’s also a serving ordinance officer in the US Army.
He says that the US government buys every year a tremendous amount of black powder for artillery shells (duplex loads…the primer ignites the black which ignites the main charge).

If Goex was the only domestic maker of black powder, where is the government sourcing it? I find it hard to believe the mighty US military relies on overseas supplies
Article I read said that they have stockpiles for incidents like this. Of course they need to replenish those stockpiles now.

I do wish people would resist the urge to go political or conspiracy theory on the threads here, we all know the direction our country is going, we don't need to be constantly reminded. Turning these threads into a vent for frustration serves no purpose other than to run a good thread off the rails.

Not political. Not conspiratorial.
I bought five more pounds from Powder Valley of Schuetzen FFFG for a total of 28.73/pound. That includes shipping, hazmat, signature fee, and tax.
The 1989 dollar is worth 3.68 today, which would make the deal I got better than a ten dollar can in 1980, which would be the equivalent of 36.80 today.
Big thanks to Kyron4 for the heads up.
In reference to the original topic, I have no idea what GOEX intends to do. It’s a shame we aren’t producing here in the States.
-Red, poppin’ tags…

I don't understand why the price increase of powder is such a surprise to anyone! Especially since the price of fuel has gone up over 100%, the price of diesel tripled, food prices up anywhere from 20% to 100%+, tires almost doubled, and everything else is skyrocketing.
Yes. A mention in the latest issue of Muzzle Blasts states that BP is now around $40./ lb.!

PV is already out of stock for FFFFG...

I just paid $23 for a stake, could of bought a cow for that in 1970. Just saying.
You wouldn’t believe how many cows we sold in the seventies for under a quarter a pound… ok, you might believe it. But it was a lot.
-Red, got real tired of cows as a kid…

Trouble is, as I see it, many people seem to lump things into a political category that has really nothing to do with politics. One guy I know puts the kind of coffee he drinks or whether one powder coats their bullets or not into the same category. No wonder younger people lose interest in shooting sports! Would be great if they could quit being idiots like that.

I powder coat with Folgers Classic Roast Instant. It doesn’t taste as good, but it goes on quick.
-Red, can’t quit being an idiot…

I agree.

The very last thing we want is people getting involved in politics while we try to save the shooting sports that we all love.

I'm of the opinion that we should just keep quiet, roll over, and take it since that's the direction the country is going anyway.

Why raise our voices when all it does is upset the Left.

P.S. Just put three pounds of 1.5F into my wet tumbler, sans water, along with thirty five .58 balls. 3F in 60 minutes. Hopefully.

Did you ever notice that if you multiply the word Folgers by 666 and subtract 666 from that, you end up with the word Pyrodex? Now, tell me that's a coincidence!

HOLY SMOKES! It does! That is scary right there! From now on I powder coat with Maxwell House!
-Red, not taking any chances…

-Red, wondering at the mushroom cloud…

An idiot-free internet? Methinks not.
