I had a T/C .56 smooth bore carbine. I sent her to Bobby Hoyt and he rifled it for me. It shoots .550 balls fine.

Had one of those and seriously considered just what you did.
Glad to see somebody make it work.
Is the narrow land rifling helping to make the .55 balls load easily?
 
Kudo's........ I wouldn't do that to mine because I like it's smoothbore performance with both PRB & birdshot
