The 1935 movie,' Barbary Coast' about early San Francisco, has at least one character using what is surely a real 1860 Colt; they weren't making repros at the time. It's a good film for the time; they even have a visual effect for the famous Fog, and one guy shoots another with a pistol, then you see smoke coming from the muzzle after the shot, just like you might expect with black powder.

Then as now, many of the armorers were and are gun cranks. If I wouldn’t have to live in California and deal with liberal nut jobs every day, I’d consider trying it for a late life career change…

The 1940 movie Arizona with Jean Arthur and William Holden Is what you want . Percussion revolvers all over the place. Even some good shots of a Starr. How about a Colt revolving rifle. Starts out in 1860 and moves on into the war years.Percussion Sharps rifles too. Not a lot of fighting even with all that. All orginal guns as nobody was making any fakes at this time.
