Amen to that. And I picked the easy style for this one, raised panels w/ incised line details. I'm relatively certain, as best I can recall, that it was more than an afternoon's process (sulk, sigh, and sob).

'Done with this one. As I'd said in earlier posts, I've been out of the loop for over twenty years, so I've been trying to 'get religion' on these past builds with things like grey instead of browning, aqua fortis, shading, etc. Plus a host of things that were not a key stroke away back in the day using sites like this (thank you). On that note I have no qualms with critiques from you guys if you'd like to comment. No, it won't send you screaming into the night but it's not too awful hard to pick things out either. To wit: I never seem to have the nerve to 'round out' my forend between front lock panels and entry pipe enough, my engraving is pretty crude, and my blending of the shading came out kind of cobby, not horrifying, but not as convincing as a lot of the work I've seen here. On the more fun side I added in a couple of little details to anchor the gun to it's region of manufacture. The trigger bow has a wild rose (NY State flower) on it, the sideplate has a sturgeon's head worked in, and the Half Moon wrist inlay represents Henry Hudson's ship of the same name who discovered the river for the Dutch. And yes, I chickened out on doing some engraving on it, which it's crying out for. OK, pics..........,

Thanks Gents. I took it 'down back' yesterday for it's maiden run. I used rb so I could see where it was going and it was low at 25 yds. but I'd left the front sight pretty high so I saw that coming. 'Nothing that can't be tweaked out with some filing. Otherwise, no problems. Thanks again!
