I’ve been wishing the same thing. I thought I found a loophole for Missouri, but when I read the actual statutes the hole did not exist.

PA allows rifles, or at least did when I lived up there ten years ago.
 
We can here in Florida other than a few WMAs but even on those I think a ml rifle is OK (centrerfire verboten)
 
All depends on your state's law. One of our previous (now deceased) members was able to qualify a single projectile out of a smoothbore as "loose shot" which his state mandated.
