I've bought three Pedersoli flinters recently and I'd be furious if one of them had a glaring cosmetic issue.
But if the seller, whoever they are (maybe I missed it) won't stand behind it, you can be sure they will know it was my last purchase from them and my voice will be heard across the forums.
You would think at the least the folks in Italy could ship you a new stock. I guess they don't care if it was your last purchase from them either.

The seller was wholesale hunter. It wasn’t entirely there fault, they never even seen or touched the rifle, it was shipped directly from IFG. But they should also look at what they are selling first. Wholesale hunter did refund my shipping, they said it’s all they could do. I’m more upset with pedersoli and the distributor for letting it leave like that. My dad was going to buy a 45 cal frontier flint from them but said nope not after seeing that sh*tty work.

Own multiple Pedersoli,, some older and a few newer ones. All are to notch firearms. All my flinters work flawlessly and look great. I also have some custom rifles and pistols that are great also. It boils down to the same thing when you buy a new vehicle. Some are great,, look great, run great and last a long time. Others buy the same make and model and they are lemons. Do we automatically bash the manufacturer..? Life happens and it is not always fair.

Pedersoli is turning out some garbage.

Auto manufacturers are tuning out some garbage.

You say we shouldn't blame the manufacturers while the manufacturers are the ones turning out the garbage.

Who else should we blame for the manufacturers turning out garbage?

Yea but that’s why they have a lemon law and car manufacturers stand behind their vehicles with major defects. Pedersoli pretty much said the truth is what we say it is and there’s nothing you can do about it. I know these production rifles are far from perfect and each one looks slightly different from another one but mine is so messed up it affected the actual shape of the stock. They lost a customer for life and they got free advertising for life on their sh*t quality and customer service.

Exactly. Thank you 🙏

Interesting.
I hate items that are drop shipped. And I hate buying items from sellers who only use stock photos, but that's the way of the world now. They want their money for the least amount of work and trust the serial number (if it has one) and model number are the same on the gun as the box.

If you want highest quality possible, well designed, historically correct, long rifle, get a Kibler. They are easy to assemble and finish. An equivalent rifle from a custom maker might cost $10K. I have assembled seven so far, no speculation on my part.

I have no use for any of the Pedersoli "long rifles". They are weird looking and have poor breech plug design that hurts reliability. The prices are much to high for what you get.

There is nothing wrong with Chambers. They do require experience and skills to assemble.

The rest are parts set bundlers. Precarved sotcks are a can of worms. A long rifle need a swamped barrel. The locks tend to be made of cast parts that are slapped together as fast as possible. I am over parts set "kits".

Manufacturers make low quality stuff to satisfy the demand for price point buyers. This is common to all goods today. Many people only want to know, "how much a month" or what is the absolute cheapest item. People tend to be fixated on cheap tech devices. Few of them consider how long something will last.

Most of my durable goods are old. That includes cars, stove, washer-dryer, tools, phones, guns, anywhere I can, I buy old and quality.

I have bought "unmentionables" from Wholesale Hunter, and am sad to hear they won't stand behind a faulty gun they sell. Of all my firearm purchases over the years I have bought only one firearm that I had to send back, and that was an Uberti 1851. Although I contacted the seller it was the distributer who made it right with a perfect replacement. My one new Pedersoli purchase, a Trade Gun, I bought from Dixie as although not the cheapest (at the time) were what I figured to be a reputable seller to be sending that kind of money. I believe I posted earlier to this thread that it had one bobble in the carving behind the tang which could be sorted if one was handy with a knife and willing to refinish the stock. I am not and no longer think about it except when threads like this come up. It is a fine shooter and I enjoy it a lot.

My point was to remind us that not all of their products are garbage... yes some are but not all. Most that I am are aware of are of good quality. Your mileage may vary.

Pedersoli does not warranty or guarantee the wood stock.

My experience with a stock defect occurred with a new in the box stainless Ruger Mini-14 (unmentionable). Was shipped with a 1 1/4" crack on the left side. Seller refused to exchange or refund (Wal-Mart: this was in 1999 for reference). Contacted Ruger, sent gun back as requested, received gun back quickly with a letter saying the crack was cosmetic, not structural and would not affect the safety or reliability of the gun. Still have it and the box it came in. I and several of my kids have shot many thousands of rounds through it over the years and the crack has never gotten any worse. Without fail, everyone that sees it remarks "the stock is cracked". By the way, the crack penetrates all the way through from the outside to the barrel channel.

Some personal observations on Pedersoli quality. Varies from gun to gun. Some are better than others but not one has been perfectly flawless. I consider them field grade guns and use them for hunting. Despite my best efforts while hunting, they will get lightly scratched or dinged. Everyone of them have been good shooters.

Overall I rate Pedersoli quality on par with LEE reloading products.

I sure did learn my lesson with buying from an online store. I just checked the serial number on the box matches the one on the barrel of the gun.

Yeah it's hit and miss on the online stuff and of course always better to see and touch it before buying it when possible. Seems QC is quickly becoming a rare accomplishment for the sake of profit and it's getting to where you have to pay a stupid price and overhaul everything that comes in the door since the plague hit, unless of course your not picky about it. If I didn't know any better I would think it's all made in China!

Thank you for posting this. There is a lesson I learned, if you buying a gun built to a price point unseen from the internet this is the chance you take. Not really something I want to do for $1000 after seeing your issue, I'd be unhappy with it to.

Back in 2018 or 19 I had the chance to see some of the then-new Pedersoli lorenzes at the N-SSA national. The examples I saw were some of the absolute best put together production muzzleloaders I had ever seen. Fit and finish were fantastic, it seemed Pedersoli was really trying to do something special with this rifles. At $1200 new they werent cheap but not terrible either. I was a few hundred short and said "next year."

Well covid hit and "next year" took a lot longer to come. Fast forward to last summer and the same dealer got a few more in. Talk about night and day. Fit was sloppy on par with an India gun and were several hundred dollars more to boot. Should have just whipped out the credit card when I first had the chance.

I did end up getting a brown bess when cabelas was doing their $999 blowout. It's good apart from an off center touch hole. Date code is 2019 so pre-covid. I have seen a couple from this batch with some nasty flaws such as unfinished pan surfaces or significant space between lock and barrel.
